Watched this again on a plane last week. Terrible, but as a brit who saw lock stock when i was 16, i'd watch ANY Guy Richie gangster tosh.
2 Wideboys out of 5 (but 10/10 would recommend)- Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with that one, either.Continuity

if you like brutal, over the top violence than this is it
as far as story & editing not so much.
Great cast but the movie is all over the place.
- So I saw, I think, the Canadian version or something, half hour shorter and a whole subplot and ending was missing. It was a bit mad but really enjoyable.webazoot
- Then I saw there was an 'uncut' version listed so watched that and it was sprawling and some of the plot stretched credibility and was a bit of a mess.webazoot
- Was really interesting to compare how different they were and how having parts of the story 'untold' was much better.webazoot

Well this turned out to be lame.
Cheesy acting that was fine for a while, like a 90s movie hommage, before it turned out to clearly not be supported by a good story, turning the whole thing into a Lifetime movie.
Too bad because the premise was exciting. It had Fincher/Nolan/De Palma/Pollack potential.I wanted to like it considering M. Night Shyamalan's incredible ability to deliver when he does (Unbreakable), but any episode of Dexter is stronger than this.
Here it's impossible to be engaged, the story progresses in front of your eyes without keeping you guessing on anything. You're just watching it unfold from one chapter to the next.
Josh Hartnett is a likeable actor but he's not given much to work with, definitely not enough to feed his real persona vs his front. The FBI characters might as well just have been extras.

Beautifully shot and sets up the tension but the last 20min are mind boggling. Now we have the 2024 remake with James McAvoy which is most likely a shot for shot version. Nahhhh .. Pass.
