Is anyone looking forward to this and is it actually supposed to be good?
Why is the music so poorly chosen?

Leonardo was made for this film

Not exactly looking forward to this. Not sure if it's supposed to be good. Don't know why the music is poorly chosen.

Just be glad Scorcese didnt make this. It would have a lot of random period songs changing every minute or so with a lot of punching in it. Really obnoxious.

I'd rather not encourage Hollywood to continue forcing their tired, prepackaged gimmicks into everything they can for the sole purpose of money.
That being said, I'm sure some friends will try to drag me to go see it. I'd rather attempt watch it on a comfortable couch and fall asleep 45 min later.
PS. Fuck Leo.

"Conceived as an art deco migraine by Baz Luhrmann – the Michael Bay of jazz-hands – Gatsby explodes in 3D with all the spectacle, hyperactivity and emotional heft of a Transformers film. It’s bloated. It’s emotionally bankrupt. It’s simultaneously shiny and dull. Worst of all, it’s a love story that’s impossible to get swept up in, because it’s not actually being told – we’re expected to come to the film already understanding the core romance so that more time can be spent on ADD car chases (yes, there are several) and the promotion of a soundtrack of Beyonce singles reimagined as foxtrots."

I thought it was actually a pretty good movie. The art direction was very well done, the 21st century stuff like Jay-z and dubstep getting tossed in didn't actually spoil the movie this time (I hated that shit in moulin rouge). Dicaprio seemed like a character, rather than himself.
For a flashy, style over substance type of movie, it actually had some soul to it. I opted for the non-3D edition, so maybe it's a bit more of a circus in 3d. Good date movie.

Romeo and Juliet was 1000x times better.
I just thought it was OK. But if you are bored and already saw everything else, check it out.

i'm midway within the book and the movie. I don't want to watch any movie til i've past it in the book. But so far I'm a bit amazed to see the book come to life on screen. The spectacular craftmanship of scenes were very delightful.
Has anyone seen the Robert Redford 1974 version of the movie?

we were forced to watch the movie while we were studying the book in highschool. i don't remember much of it but that it was incredibly boring and uneventful. a bunch of rich people and some sort of a love triangle i think.
