I am working on a new kids book and I am trying to decide which style to do it in. Which do you prefer?
Audience is probably about 6-11 year olds

1st one, it's more colorful. Kids LOVE colors.

I like #2 and it doesn't matter that the little Prince has some similar colors.
Many many many classic childrens books have a limited palette. Sure kids like colors - but they like a good fun book better.
You have to remember that the parent's will also be buying it and they will like the second one.
Go with the second one, imho.

Shouldn't you be asking wee children?

The first one seems to be for an older audience than the second illustration.
As for the second cover, it looks like a book for boys more than kids in general.

for that age group parents are generally still buying the books. I would definitely go with vrs 2

Probably 1.
Make sure you get the spelling right though – ie. Noah Tal or Noah Tall.

Win / Win. Do what feels right.

Personally, Id make the 2nd bit more colourful but not as busy as the 1st. But if you have to pick, 1 looks stronger on shelves.
