You're not a fucking bank. They should've wired you the money as soon as they heard you bought the tickets on their behalf. If you asked for the money and they said no, I'd consider selling the tickets on ebay to recoup the expense.
- It's UK/US, they still use cheques I'm afraid, might not understand the concept of "wire".shaft

Non-UK non-American here;
A) It depends on the relationship with the person you're buying the tickets for.
B) See answer to A.
Addendum: Your girlfriend is on the hook for her friends' tickets. No she can't pay you in sex.

In either case, if a friend asked me I'd fork over the $$ without even thinking before the concert and not feel like he was being a dick....
BUT .... my wife has a friend who's a TOTALLY INSANE fan of a certain artist whose ticket prices are insane, this fan likes to sit in the first few rows and pays for it... this fan is also a doctor, and makes $$, and she asks my wife to go along.. for fun, companionship,etc.. but never expects payment due to the huge cost, the huge difference in their fan-interest levels, and their huge income differrence....

i don't think this has anything to do with the us vs uk, but...
a. $30: i'd probably just get you the ticket if i wanted you to go with me.
b. $200: why don't you just buy the ticket yourself beforehand instead of me?

Depends how well you know them.

A ) I think its fine if he pays you anytime up to the day of the concert. $30 isnt really a big deal.
B ) Id expect to get the payment sometime before the concert since the amount is much higher.
If dude doesnt pay up after the concert, its time to take out the baseball bat and get money! :)
- so squeezing in a game of wiffle ball will get you the money faster?capn_ron

also depends if you are getting sexual favors from this person... if you are... you are not getting your money back

Worst thingis when people just say "I'll buy you some drinks in return!". I'll buy my own thanks. Pay me

Your GF may have told your friends that you're treating them to the concert. So, yeah, I'd get this sorted fast. If they give you any shit, tell them your Gran suddenly needs a couple new oxygen tanks, because she's been excited and breathing too much.

Some people really are such colossal chuff nuts, aren't they?

Anyone who has you front them a pair of tickets should be prepared to pay you back whenever you want before the show, or else they're dicks. Making you wait until the day of the show is equally dick as asking. Good friends won't even care.

Personally I hate it when people keep you hanging out for your money for the duration of the event. Anyone with an ounce of courtesy would remove that one milligram of niggle from your brain in advance of the event, so you could fully and completely enjoy it without thinking 'when is this dick going to pay me?'
Obviously this is more for acquaintances than actual friends who I would either trust implicitly or would know not to trust and so would let them get their own ticket.

A yes
B No
I hope this was of some help.

Thanks guys...
I paid $800 for 4 tickets. One for me, one for my gf and two for HER mates.
When I asked her this morning if she had asked her friends for the money - she said I was a dick for asking and they they should be able to give it me on the night.
Personally I think that is a lot to ask...
- If a GF is involved, no matter what you do, you're a dick.boobs
- Sounds about right Boobs... Seem like we are on the same wavelengthnylon
- She's kind of a bitch for calling you a dick. You did lend HER mates the money, afterall.monospaced
- Yeah you are not being a dick. That is a good junk of change.rson

I wouldn't have a problem giving my friends money for a ticket before a concert.
I don't see what the problem is in you requesting the money before.
- Fax_Benson0
if you've bought them $30 dollar tickets and are asking $200 then yes, that's very dick.
- robotron3k0
Don't buy extra tickets if you can't afford it. Just tell your friends to meet you inside.

A: You are not being a dick if you truly can't comfortably front the money. If you can comfortably front the money AND trust "me" to pay you back, then yes, you are being a miserly dick. But if "i" have a history of being late on paying you back or not paying you back at all, "i'm" the dick and you are justified.
B: Same as above, except it's less likely that fronting $200 for a month is going to be no skin off your nose, so it's more reasonable for you to ask for the money in advance.
Or avoid the whole thing and have the other person buy their own damn tickets

Depends on how close of friends you are. Any self-respecting person would WANT to pay you before the concert, or at least that same evening (maybe there was no ATM around and this person will get you back at the bar after the show).
