Thinking about going ahead and upgrading my M1 Mac mini to the M2 Pro because I still get trade in value on the old one ($445).
Primarily looking for more power in Logic Pro. Can't decide between either of two upgrades:
12 core CPU instead of 10, or
Memory upgrade to 32GBThoughts?
- i don't do Logic but if youre a numbers kinda person you can compare these: https://browser.geek…Squiddy
- and of course download the geekbench app and compare your m1 tooSquiddy
- i do mostly programming but both are pretty great. Love my imac but I would sell it if certain windows programs ran on ARM. hhope that helpsSquiddy
- Oh yeah i edited some audio files in Fission and it was super fast. so I'd think the muscle is there for whatever youre doingSquiddy

m2 is a m1 but overclocked pretty much.

I must say that I would love to get my hands on a Mac Mini.
Even if it was one from 2018 that still cost around 700€ in second-hand stores.
Not the M1 though, I need ports!

Maxed-out Mac Pro loses 98% of its value with Apple Trade In after costing US$52,199 three years earlier
Apple’s ruthless Trade In service has come under the spotlight after a tech journalist discovered that a Mac Pro that cost US$52,199 three years earlier was given a current trade-in value of just US$970.
- So, don't trade it/anything in.ideaist

WHOA!ideaist - That's called an idiot fee for spending 50k on a mac...shapesalad
- That program isn't geared towards real market value. But I did once get $500 on 7yo water-cooled dual G5 b/c the cooler parts were in high demand.evilpeacock
- ...anyway it irks me when tech news explodes over stuff like this. Trade-in value would never be good with a program that is mostly targeted for recycling.evilpeacock

"Rumor: Apple's M2 Max chip with 12 CPU cores (8 Performance + 4 Efficiency) and 38 GPU cores will debut with 14 & 16" MacBook Pros. The "M2 Ultra" & "Extreme" could have 24-48 CPU cores and 76-152 GPU cores and debut with the Mac Pro."

iOS 16.1 Settings You Need To Turn Off Now!!!
And WTF is with the GIGANTIC, EXTRA BOLD, CLOCK on the launch screen. Apple took "make the logo bigger" to another level.
- What if switching off those things... is just a UI graphics thing, perhaps it keeps the code running, how can we ever know?shapesalad

Does anybody know what app that is he's using to shoot the scene at around the 1min mark?
- Editing app before the 1min mark is iMovie, recording app after the 1 min mark looks like Filmic Pro

I am a week into an iPhone 14, and a week and a half into iOS 16.
One major thing is making me insane, and that is the changes they seem to have made to voice dictation. It seems like it is interpreting any minor pause in dictation as a comma. Typically, I would insert a comma by saying “comma.” Now, when I proofread messages or text that I have inputted with voice dictation, it’s littered with commas in strange spots that I didn’t insert.
It also seems as though the predictive nature of voice to text has gotten worse, where it consistently uses the wrong words even though the words I spoke, were relatively generic in simple words in the context of what I was saying. Like, up above with the word “pause,” it typed that out as paws despite an animal, Paul, having nothing to do with the nature of what I was describing. It used to be much smarter than this, I don’t know what has changed, but it is super annoying. I use voice to text all the time.
