shall we start another campaign to tell everyone to stop donating?
"guys guys! really that's enough! cancer patient don't even get this much donation. you are going to make the world unjustified!"

Seriously though, what do you care what another person does to assist another? If I give money to a charity that uses most of the funds for operating costs or a walk in donation to a humane society where my donation helps pay the gas bill more than food, what do you care? If I give food to a homeless person or a food donation to a shelter, there will always be something more anyone could have done. So again , what type of selfish egotistical person is seriously berating and negatively judging those who donated? Do you need a sandy 'gina fund for yourself?

- < thats what i'm saying!pango
- I just thought it was amusing that you made a point of stating you'd donated.detritus

What's a little disturbing is seeing people give money for lack of any other solution to the problem. For all we know this woman doesn't even need money, money won't solve the problem of being bullied. We've been trained to think as consumers, so our response to a problem is to open our wallets.

Well i'm glad people wouldn't mind giving away their hard earn money. its just that i dont think she really needs money...
and i sure hope all the money goes to her and she would be so kind to donate more than half to legitimate charity.- If she donated some of it to an anti-bullying organization of some kind it would make slightly more sense.ukit2

@ albums:
Altruism rules. Any decent, thinking person donates to charities, that's a given, whatever.
Donating half a million dollars to a woman who had her feelings hurt a bit fits the dictionary definition of obscene and it borderline unethical imo.
It's not the act of giving. It's the unbridled LEVEL of giving. It's profoundly uncomfortable
- I agree, we shouldn't pity her. It's the kids that needs a slap on their fucking head and get their shit straight, they are the problemk_temp

this seriously feel like another kony2012. the way people react to it.
- animatedgif0
Yeah it's a sad story but donating the much money just because someone was bullied is beyond ridiculous.
The kids were disciplined and will always feel like cunts about it.
If she couldn't control the kids maybe she shouldn't be the bus monitor...
- I'd use that money to send those 8 kids to a bootcamp with Sgt something (like Maury). And record it and make it viral.k_temp

I haven't watched the video, it would make me too sad and angry, but I get the jist of it from the comments.
I totally agree kids need more boundaries. The good old days when you were young and knew where the line was as to avoid a good ole smack from your parents.

And while she might not need money, nor will it make being bullied any less painful, I hope it has reminded her there is good in the world. Lets hope its estored some of her faith in humanity.

- remember the good old day when people just write letters to make others feel better? :Ppango

Re: donating cash to a cause.
I concede this is all people COULD possibly offer in this situation (what else? Anti-bullying juice? Feel good vibes?).
But people are donating to make themselves feel better, to #BePartofSomething, to #SayTheyDidIt – that is uncomfortable.
Especially as this cause is so arbitrary.
It's just amazing to me that a news storm circles around a single webpage setup by a well-meaning dude cancelling out some bad karma and everyone just eats it up.
Nobody is arguing with the heart of this, it's the scale that is depressing, crass and totally unnecessary

Calling it now:
Panhandling 2.0 COMING THIS SUMMER!
- Fax_Benson0
It's totally arbitrary, that's the nature of stuff that goes viral, it's always stupid. The world is full of people who don't really think about what they're doing and why they're doing it - the internet just connects them all up - hence half million dollars.

QBN haters are in the minority on this topic
Society loves the outpouring for her

My guess is the majority of people donating were bullied at one point in their lives & want to comfort her as they would've liked to have been comforted.

bad parenting.
