miguex, I can buy the 7 hour battery life especially with the SSD. I regularly get ~5 hours of casual use with my one year old thunderbolt i7

i cant believe the ram is soldered into these things and cant be upgraded. same with the battery that cant be replaced. theyre doing all they can to turn people into bigger consumer whores.
only positives i really see is they FINALLY adopted the faster ram and added usb 3.0. and that these new changes might allow me to talk my job out of thinking apple is a professionals tool when it comes to our next upgrades.
- a) damn good RAM, and lots of it
b) best laptop battery in the industry lasts for many yearsmonospaced - have you tried it mono?
or you just accept everything apple spews on face value?GeorgesII - no, I haven't tried it, but I did read up on it as I expect anyone commenting would/should domonospaced

- Buy 16GB RAM, forget it was ever going to be an issue.
- SSD is just as replaceable as it has been in MB Air (I upgraded SSD in mine).
- Replace battery with Apple for $200 when it's used up;Otherwise, look for a different 1.8mm thin, 2KG light, fast-as-fuck, made with user-replaceable parts laptop.

<~~ does not want...

i'm fairly certain i want one, my beloved pb g4 ain't cutting the mustard no more

My current MBP is on its second battery in the 5 years I've had it (and it only holds about 9 minutes of charge now), so making the battery permanent is enough to tell me I will not be getting this MBP.
I won't miss not having a DVD drive though – mine stopped working years ago, and I got used to it.
- Miguex0
^
Battery is not permanent, it can be replaced at the apple store for a new one. Not sure why they do that, but just to make sure no one gets confused here since there's a huge difference between the computer render itself obsolete after 2 years or so, and functioning like new with a quick visit to the apple store when the battery dies.
- i_monk0
"entirely different type" didn't turn out so good for my MBP either – its GPU was soldered with a then-new lead-free soldering paste. Which cracks. Which makes the GPU crash at high temps when hardware acceleration is on.
Maybe in a few years, gen 2 or 3, when they've proven themselves.

Browsed some sites at the apple store. Text looks great, photos look like pixelated up-scaled shit.
- Same experience. CSS stuffs are sharp and neat. Anything bitmap is blury in Retina and 1:1 modeiGin
- ernexbcn0
Batteries can be serviced at the store, the other thing does not, but are we really complaining about the best laptop ever just because you can't put more ram on it later on? buy the god damned thing with 16GB of RAM and enjoy it for some years.
My Powerbook G4 still works.

This is the price in the UK for a high spec. Apple macbook pro.
£2,923.99LOL fuck that FUCK THAT!!!!
- I know, but just think of this, there's people paying that or more, for a sony/ dell laptop.Miguex
- Lord have mercy.chossy
- Whoa! What Sony or Dell costs that? Even the Alienware M18x is less than that.ETM
- They ALL do when you make them comparable to the Mac. Plus they will never have retina displays.monospaced

Just ordered myself one online, won't be getting it till end of July apparently, but it's all good. I might be selling my
15" MBP / 250gb drive
2.4 /Intel Core Duo with 4gb of ram.
2 batteries (original one, and a fairly new one)
2 power chords (one stayed on my desk so its brand new, and the one for the backpack looks old, but works fine)computer looks pretty good, no dents, minor wear and tear. Always carried it on a sleeve case.
How much do you think I could get for it?
- Miguex0
Here's an alternative by Sony, starting at ahem.. that's right $2899.99
- 13.5"Miguex
- there's been an update and a price drop recentlyFax_Benson
- This looks like from 2003, probably is. No seal around the screen means screen will collect dust from its bag.raf
- god this crap is so old and clunky looking. you have no standards if this type of stuff appeals to you.CanHasQBN
- That price is a super LOLETM
- Fax_Benson0
I'm seriously thinking of getting the newer version of that Sony - has anybody got / used one?
- Miguex0
I had all of their new laptops for work, the lower end levels feel very plastic in construction, much like the first ibook, very clunky, but they are cheap.
The Z series is the top of the line, they look a lot better design wise, but personally (speaking as a brainwashed apple user) paying that much for any laptop that runs windows to me sounds crazy. Just get a dell or a segway computer and spend the rest on
a present for your girl
buy a new lens for your camera
donate it to charity
6000 fajitas
4 iphones 4s with contract
a round trip ticket to japan
etc- did you have the 2012 version of the vaio z?Fax_Benson
- yes, all their new laptopsMiguex
- lol @ 6k fajitasprophetone
- Miguex0
- what did you think of it, seriously, OS aside?Fax_Benson
- the computer is nice. Sony makes the nicest looking pc computers hands down, but the price tag is laughableMiguex

"News Flash: Surface Pro has a Better Retina Display than the iPad.":
Last paragraph of the above article:
"This is why the title says the Surface Pro has a "better" Retina display than the iPad. At normal viewing distances, there is no difference. None. Zero. Nada."
Does anyone read past the headline anymore? I fucking hate all you hype sucking nerd dickheads. This thread isn't even about tablets.
- the Surface Pro that nobody's ever even seen or touchedmonospaced
- but it is about Retina. Does anyone read past the headline anymore? I fucking hate all you hype sucking nerd dickheads.********
- moth you twat, if you read the article it says that the ipad actually has the better screen, but discounts it as:kingsteven
- 1: you use a tablet 2 feet away from your face so the additional resolution doesn't matterkingsteven
- (ignoring the fact that if you want to see something better you move your face closer to it) and 2:kingsteven
- "the Surface Pro that nobody's ever even seen or touched" is somehow better. i honestly couldn't give a shit...kingsteven
- but i actually wasted 10 minutes of my life reading that irrelevant shit that you postedkingsteven
- The Surface Pro that sold out all over the country. I am sold for my next tablet. Thankfully choices!formed
- It was a bad stunt. They didn't sell out. Lol.monospaced
