I wonder if CS6 is prepared for that.
- They said they cooperated with Adobe, Blizzard (Retina Diablo III) for this thingernexbcn
- Apparently Diablo devs haven't even seen a Retina MacBook: http://us.battle.net…raf

I'm with intelliboy on this one. What's all the moaning for?
If you were given one for free you'd use it and love it. It's only because you can't afford it that you are all so pissed. Get a grip, move on.

do thunderbolt also act as display ports?

"Is it me or is 2880x1800 far too much on a 15"/13" display? The average website is going to fill less than a 3rd of the width unless zoomed in, and surely a 12px font isn't even going to be readable?"
^ LOL doesn't understand what a retina display means ^

I figured Apple would start innovating again before Jobs passed.
But here they are, still in the midst of 'feature creep'. Now it's just getting straight up MEH.

So tell me....what should they have introduced then? ;)

17" computers are the Hummers of computing.
How on Earth do you travel with it?
I love that the new Macbook Pros ditch the optical drive... what old tech. I don't think I've stuck a CD into my computer in well over a year. I'm seeing if I can order one through work. Ah yeah!

From Anandtech regarding different resolutions/scalings
Retina Display MBP owners now get a slider under OS X's Display Preferences that allow you to specify desktop resolutions other than 1440 x 900. At 1440 x 900 you don't get any increase in usable desktop resolution compared to a standard 15-inch MacBook Pro, but everything is ridiculously crisp. If you're like me however and opted for the 1680 x 1050 "high-res" upgrade last generation, this won't do. Thankfully Apple offers 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1200 scaling options that trade a bit of image quality and performance for added real estate.

I never cared for the 17", I owned all 3 sizes at one point and the 17" was always at the bottom in terms of being portable, I know some people here loved them, but in my opinion, you plug a 15 to an external monitor and you have the perfect setup (I prefer this over a desktop) but that's just me.
I've been waiting on this update for a while, I don't give a shit about the retina display, if it's there cool, if not cool. no anti-glare? that is LAME, why would you want you see your own reflection when working in photoshop? it's beyond me.
what's important to me, will this be considerably faster?
I don't buy the 7hr battery scam, we all know macs get about 2 hours unplugged, so I'm over that already.- TruthGlitterati_Duane
- supposedly doesn't need anti-glare because the default screen is like 70% less reflective nowNathanNice

I think I'm getting one this week.

It looks great, but the glued-together build method scares me... my dad, and engineering professor used to call this "one-way engineering" i.e. it's goes together, but is never designed to be taken apart...... most of you won't mind this, but for me, it's a terrible precedent towards hermetically sealed products, rather than hack-able machines people can take apart and learn how stuff is put together..
It's about the transformation of us all from creators into consumers.... not that we have to hack apart our laptops, but everything is becoming more like the iPhone and less like the Apple IIe

- does the size gets smaller? I think it just stays the same, but w more resolution, like on the ipad or iphoneMiguex
- correct but the resolution is still massive, regardless of the increase Pixels per inch (PPI) or pixel density-kappa-
- time to redesign QBNOP31
- not buts, the resolution IS MASSIVE :) you can always leave it at standard res if you want right?Miguex

I'd don't mind the sacrifice of solder/glue when you can get laptops this super thin and portable. In the last 10 years I've only opened up a computer once. Though I can see how this definitely will be an issue for some people.
- people that like to build their own computers are usually more into getting desktops and chances are it will be a PC tooMiguex

Apple might be able to support and warranty the disposable hardware if their profit margin is 40%, who cares if 1 out of 10 machines gets completely replaced rather than repaired during the warranty period of time...
so,.... I'd get apple care if I got this...
- <yep, with Applecare and selling after 3 years, I don't care how they fix it. Not my problem.ribit
