- Lens Works with most phones, and it costs around 20bucks, is magnetic and you ALWAYS have your phone with you, so just worry about bringing the lens.Miguex

- yep plus you get to edit your photos instantlyhektor911

If anyone is interested, I got my lens from here:
http://photojojo.com/store/aweso…It comes with a set of metal stickers that go around your phone lens , and it works for multiple phones, probably all of them, but make sure on the site.
The lens is magnetic and attaches to the sticker in the back of your phone, $25 for the fisheye.
- Sticker looks easy to remove if you ever get tired of it.Miguex
- awesomeness!Hombre_Lobo

camera phones is a 'nice convenience' if you don't have anything else, not a camera.
- or rather, not a replacement for a camera.sine

Haven't made final decision and bought it yet. The offer of £599(plus £50 cashback, so £549) with twin lens kit ends on saturday so i'm going to go into shop and play with shortlist and see how I get on with doing things I'd see myself doing when shooting - i.e how quick it is to change effects modes or settings.Check out this guys posts with his Pentax Q - some in VERY low light situations.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/219…
I actually like the un-sharpness of this camera - it's very 35mm LC-A like.
I may be getting an iPhone 4S through work soon and it's got a good camera, particularly more "fun" stuff and i'll ALWAYS have that on me. I cant help but think that the quality pentax q wont be that much superior to the iphone to warrant the cost. This means its probably more sense for me to get a serious camera. So it's between the Nex 5N and Panasonic GX1.
If I find out the offer on the sony might extend then I may hold out and see what the Canon G1x is all about.- I could only see the airport ones, but I wouldn't say they are low light. They look great though, nice colors, good photographer.Hombre_Lobo

The s90/95 is a great little camera. The major strength of it being its compactness. But i often think the LX5 is my fave of that bunch due to the better aperture through the ranges and wide angle -
The s90/95 has to go all the way to 4.9 in the tele end, which is a huge difference to the LX5's 3.3, and i also prefer the LX5's 1/4000th shutter to the s90/95's 1/1600th of a second.
Dont get me wrong they arent bokeh licious cams, but in light gathering terms its a big difference.
Much like the tl500 has a 1.8-2.4 aperture, but with a max shutter of 1/1500th of a sec its less desirable too.
The s90/95 is awesome though, such good macro and actually pocketable! unlike a lot of other 'compacts'. The XZ-1 for instance is quite big for a compact, the LX5 isnt all that small either, but for me its pocketable.
Sadly the color rendition on the Lx5 isnt as accurate or pleasing as the s95, but you cant have it all and its still awesome!

- Cool pic, but what lens & iso?
I'd love a gx1, sweet little cam. You leaning towards m43 now??Hombre_Lobo

I really dunno, I keep switching choice between the GX1 and Nex 5n.
Sony is thin and with a16mm lens is very discreet and pocketable.
GX1 is a bit more noticable with x-lens when camera is turned on - so less discreet. Both are good to hold and use and have the types of features/spec that i'm looking for. GX1 obviously has more lenses but the Sony with twin lens kit (16mm and zoom) plus fisheye + ultra wide adaptor is a killer setup for about £800 if you ask me.
To do the same with the GX1 would cost a lot more.It may end up coming down to which comes into the country first depending on how patient I can be.
Sony (and I think Panasonic) lost factories in the tsunami so are well behind in demand. Guy at Sony shop today said it'd be the end of February before they get any more in. Sony shops will also match offers anyone else has got on btw - worth remembering to haggle and see who can do the best deal ;)- The Sony factory was under 9ft of water in Thailand.ebertzjaw
- Get the GRD4, btw.ebertzjaw
- GRD4 = No zoom capabilities (neither zoom or tele lens)23kon
- plus sensor is 1/3 of the size and less MP. Spec of the GRD4 isnt much better than my GX10023kon
- Fair point, but the GRD4 is discrete and has low shutter lag.ebertzjaw
- Zoom capabilities shouldnt be a priority with street photography. ymmv.ebertzjaw
- yeah but i dont just use cam for street. also general/touristy where zoom is a necessity23kon
- i do love my GX100 for the small size n discreetness.23kon
- I'm tempted by the fuji x pro1. There's a 14mm f1.4 planned tor later in the year.ebertzjaw

@Ebertzjaw
The fuji x pro1 is a nice camera and will exceed all expectations i'm sure. It is expensive in terms of the price bracket i'm looking for for THIS camera - a camera i'd feel ok taking with me everywhere.
I think i'd be too paranoid about carrying around a fuji x pro1 with a couple of lenses - probably totalling near a couple of grands worth of kit!- x1pro is fucking huge, you might as well take a dslrcraigatkinson

Fuji announce firmware update for the X10 and also hint at a x-mount camera priced below the X Pro 1.
Very interesting! I wonder when it'll be announced?
Could be worth holding out for. Be amazing if it beat the X10 spec and was more around what the Sony Nex5n offers.

fwiw - I'm shooting "street photography" with a combination of either a Pansonic GX1, GF1 or a Canon S100. Previously I was using a Panasonic LX3 and a Sony WX1 (both functional but now officially retired). The key for me has always been to take pictures without looking like you are taking pictures - shooting from the hip, so to speak.
Three years worth of examples: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr-… - note: does include some 3D, anaglyphic shots.
Long story, short: get the best you can afford and fire away.
Have fun!

"take pictures without looking like you are taking pictures" that's exactly the same way I shoot

After patiently waiting for some Sony stock to come into the UK, I finally bagged myself a Sony NEX 5N and could NOT be happier with my purchase!
What a camera!
Was through at Turnberry Resort for a client meeting yesterday and took the opportunity to grab some test shots.
Still to master the settings etc on the camera so just used the Intelligent Auto setting. The touch-to-focus is a niiiiice touch.

Just got an Olympus XZ-1. I‘m really happy with the image quality, the behaviour in low light situations and I love the control ring around the lens. Although it‘s a compact and not a big sensor dslr you are still able to play around a bit with depth of field.
It‘s quite big (compared to the Canon S90 for example) but still pocketable (well, depending on your pockets).- This looks like such an awesome cam. yeah at full zoom @ 2.8 you get some DOF, v nice! :)Hombre_Lobo
