Thanks again everyone. :)
Utopian - our initial budget was probably around $28K based on a similar remodel our neighbors did, with the same designer. But, we ended up doing much more than they did and some higher end stuff as well. Caught a break on the counters (Caesarstone Pure White) because part of it was chipped and damaged. Counters were supposed to be $5K and we got it for half in the end. To rip it off would have destroyed the lower cabinets, so we just decided we could live with a couple tiny defects in the counter surface.
I'm guessing that we have about $12K to go but that's mostly fireplace wall refinishing, cabinet next to it, tv install, speakers installed as well. Need to buy a new receiver and tv as well. Expensive project, we've gone well over budget but both of us had a good year financially so it's not too big of a deal. We certainly feel very lucky to have done any of this so quickly after buying the place. Originally we were getting a new fireplace and had this complex plan to recess the tv in the wall and have a maple frame around it, but scaled that back because of cost.
We are definitely hoping to get the project featured on some blogs, Dwell, Apartment Therapy, etc as it will be good publicity for our designer.

- Be careful with the home blogs. We thought it was cool at first. And then realized when people tell you they were looking at your house earlier online that its kind of creepy...wordssssss

We are also totally ready to be done and decorate. I've got some plans to get large prints of some Ireland and Iceland photos I took this summer and decorate with those.
I think our centerpiece on the main wall will continue to be this Paris map I scored years ago:
$25 for the map, $250 for the framing. It's not going anywhere although I could probably sell it for a good price.- love maps.akrok
- 250 for framing? are you insane?********
- It's huge. Matting, frame, glass, etc.mg33
- the map is not an original********
- No kidding. It was printed in the 1950s. Found at antique store several years ago.mg33

Very nice! Open and minimal but with some warm furnishings and a touch of color, delightful. Love the interesting floor boards too.
Where is it btw? NY? What street? And do you carry any firearms in your home? House stealing in action! :D
