Anyone else have this?

I got it from my mom's side of the family (Japanese). I have one of the worst cases where it affects my breathing. Because I'm not able to drink at all (zero), my social life in high school and college was pretty boring, and it does effect my career as well.. like relationships with coworkers, clients, networking, etc.
Shitty huh?

thats pretty shitty indeed... considering we have a "im drunk" thread up.

This is the worse alcohol problem I have ever heard of.

I never said my life sucks. I'm just saying that I have a shitty condition which affect my work life a little, and I was curious if there were other designers who has to deal with this.
If smoking weed was more socially acceptable in the corporate world, I wouldn't complain about this.

RUM FLUSH. I know a couple of people who get it, mostly occurs if they drink two nights in a row. Apparently having an antihistamine (hayfever pill) works a treat.

I drink more that I really should and I get that red rash thing while drinking about once a year. Sometimes it's from wine, others from bourbon or whiskey, I even got a real bad rash from a Spanish Coffee once. I'm glad it doesn't happen that often, I might have 1% japanese in my bloodline somewhere down the line.

Oh Shit! I'm fuct!
Research has shown that a history of facial flushing when drinking is indicative of ALDH2 deficiency, and that an ALDH2-deficient drinker who drinks 2 beers per day has 6 to 10 times the risk of developing esophageal cancer as a drinker not deficient in the enzyme.[4][5]

I heard taking an antihistamine before drinking prevents this simply because it's a mild allergic reaction or some shit. At least that's what my asian ex-girlfriend used to swear by.
