I am kind of depresed and not getting anywork done for weeks, months... sometimes a whole day goes by without acomplishing nothing. I'm triyng but nothing is getting done. what do you do in this situation?

smoke some herb or if you are definitely stop.
go outside and do physical activities.
talk to your closest family member.
work on something that you're really interested in even if it has nothing to do with nothing.

Is it just the work getting you down or other things as well?

The first thing you want to do is stop worrying about getting things accomplished. Pretend you're a teenager again and act accordingly.
Relax, try to have fun. Or not. In any case, don't think about it.Then soon enough, the bug to work will bite again.

other things, work, kind of strugling at the moment with work, I"m self employed btw

You're not alone there, I also feel lethargic and quite easily distracted. Starting something is always going to be difficult if you see it as a chore. I've started to organise things into lists and am also thinking about project management models like basecamp. Motivation and momentum are hard to maintain, maybe you need a break and some time off? I know i do!

Been there done that...
Just hot a few stripbars everything will work itself out...

I'm currently feeling a complete lack of excitement about projects and putting everything on the long finger... just got back from holiday, so am hoping it's residual holiday mode...

I found this helped:
Exercise
Daily lists - not overloaded with work, keep it realistic
Keeping reg hours - up early, finish on time, relax
Exhibitions, gigs, something interesting to do after work hours
Consistent sleepPretty basic stuff I guess but it took me a while to work out!... and working at home is now impossible for me I think. Shared office/studio/library, anything but home!

Agree with LukeO - great advice...
Also look at your diet...
This has a massive effect on us and how we feel.

- First things first, step on that flower and the creative juices will spew forth. Then throw that book at the guy standing next to you.Pumpkin_baby

Chances are you are working through something internally. Be open, take care of yourself, and let whatever it is uwind.

Good points from LukeO..
Sometimes the hardest part is getting into habit, once you get into habit, shit comes easy. Myself? I deleted everything that could be a distraction, games, fbook, all that shit. I took the "harsh" way, but its funny how often I'd dozy off and type in QBN or FB and accidentally reactivate my account lol (I kinda laughed at myself saying "wow this shits serious". Give your short term goal to do all the above what LukeO mentioned for two weeks (THATS NOTHING) and go from there.
Might also want to read Making Ideas Happen - Scott Belsky. I know what your thinking, not another self-help book, but give it a chance, it really spoke to me in terms of the phscy (sp) on how your mind thinks when it comes to creative endeavors.

Like someone mentioned proper sleep pattern is so good. If i fall asleep after 10 i usually dont remember dreaming at all. But if it is before 10 i can remember my dreams pretty clearly also you feel like a new man in the morning.
In todays age its so easy to get distracted by things and not go to bed at proper times. A good but easy to read book usually does the job for me.

close qbn, facebook and gmail... impose an internet ban for a day and see what wonders will happen.
Also... browsing inspirational sites is really motivational.. though sometimes it can make one a little despondant
- "inspirational research" is the sweetest procrastination, makes you feel like you're doing somethingraf

Great advice from attentionspan, lobsterr and lukeo.
The major ones I think are -
Early to bed, early to wake.
Regular exercise.
Good diet. (inc vitamin b known as the energy vitamin)
Regular breaks while working. Its easy to sit at a machine for 5 hours solid, but it doesn't help you at all. Starting at screens drains energy like a bitch. Try to get 10 minutes away from a screen (preferably looking at something far away to strengthen your eyes) every 45 mins / an hour if possible.
Ive known a few smokers who have quit, but have been previously more productive due to the regular breaks and fresh air smoking forces

I went through a similar patch at the start of the year, so I started swimming at lunchtimes. It helped immensely. Find it really therapeutic, something about counting lengths and listening to water. It washes out the negativity up there.
Give it a shot man, really helps.

You may be burned out....
Some time ago, I had just left a series of agency stress-factories and I'd burned myself out.. the agencies themselves were NOT staffed by evil people, nor did they have evil clients, but they DID have economic-desparation problems, where they had to promise more for less $ and be more flexible...
Hence, the creative staff got used to random requests during the daytime, we didn't seriously start working on anything till after the account people went home at 5.... hence, even now, I find my brain doesn't want to get started on stuff till after 5pm sometimes....
strange how we can train our brains.....
I liked:

http://stackoverflow.com/questio…I had some other shit in my life at the time...my car got stolen, house renovation financial mess, my wife left me.... a very slow-motion divorce, so the feeling of all the shit hitting the fan at the same time is real sometimes...
Now I use the 23 minute method... i.e. I set the countdown timer on my phone for 23 minutes, and work on ONE THING for that time, at the end of 23 minutes, I surf or go walk or make tea, starting the timer again....after a few minutes I breathe deep, write down the goal for my next 23 minutes and restart the process....
