Pathetic is the one that first came to mind.
Live and let live. Get drunk or whatever you please by yourself if you want to. It's your life and you decide how to live it.
If you need a social event (or anything really) to reason and dictate your own actions you'd be far more "strange" than those who don't. At least to me.
Not that I'd care about strange at all, I just like pointing out hypocrisies.

My way of getting around drinking on my own is to skype a friend and we get drunk together virtually. :)

I enjoy to relax with a campari on friday afternoons, just by myself, when I arrive home. It's like the closing of the week.
And I think there is nothing "strange" with that.

When I first moved to london (at 21 years old) I lived with a friend with a 9 year old daughter and I used to love a Sunday in my local by myself. Sunday papers, few pints, football on the box and maybe a bit of Sunday Lunch. Nice quiet afternoon to myself.
