was just down the street from me... i was coming home from the tesco in hackney when it started, got caught in a crowd running, with my bike and all... the evening felt like the end of the world what with the choppers and sirens everywhere and the smell of smoke... had a flight to NYC this morning and no cabs would come to pick me up... made it but was proper horrible scenes last night... hope it gets better... really ugly stuff, and yeah fuck knows what the government's gonna do....marginalise them more.

The few of you simple minded folks here need to realize that life doesn't happen in easily digestible chunks that one can nicely write about later in history books. Sure, there are protest with a specific purpose (ie "let's topple this Egyptian dictator") but sometimes it's not about a specific purpose, sometimes it's about showing the gov't that they should listen. It would be nice if the gov't listened because... well WE ELECTED THEM, but unfortunately that does nothing anymore (remember 500,000 anti-cuts protesters in London just a few months ago - what have they accomplished???). Sometimes the gov't needs to realize that they should listen, and listen to everyone not just the ones who give out bribes in form of election money.
Is this kind of thinking going on in the heads of those simple minded hoodlooms - probably not, but we should in a way be thankful that they do it so we don't have to (maybe because we have more to loose - after all i'm living a cushioned life doing my freelance work making in one day what those guys make in 2 weeks). Having shot my share of music videos back in the day i can tell you from my own experience about the poverty in US (and i assume UK too) - this country can look like a 3rd world country with 3-4 kids sleeping in one tiny basement room. Do all those who riot have to struggle through such hard conditions? Probably now, but at the same time it reveals that the masses are ready to simply say "Fuck you, to the regime" (even if they themselves might not see it as anything more other than stealing that pair of jeans - and getting away with it)

All this will lead to no results.
People just want to watch footage and pictures while eating nachos in front of their screens. This is the reality, this is where we are at. Watching stuff.
