Long live NFC.
If you thought about integrating QR for something think twice about it.
On the other hand, you should concentrate and start working with NFC now.
A few useful links:
RFID - NFC enabled stickers (to replace QR)
http://www.buynfctags.com/produc…Use readers/writers to write to RFID chips/stickers.
http://www.buynfctags.com/catego…You can alternatively print on them too to make them branded
http://www.buynfctags.com/catego…I just find this so great... I'm using NFC technology now for my new venture and this is definitely the future and much more designer friendly than those weak QR codes. Not to mention more precise because it's RF and not scanning with camera.
Just thought it would be interesting to some of you since I saw a few people here asking around QR codes and all that.

Shouldn't have gotten this QR code for my myspace url tattooed onto the back of my neck.

I just put QR codes all over dozens of items for an upcoming event, from print to environmental applications. They're definitely not dead yet.

is my phone an rf reader i didn't know about? how many years til this is hand held integration on my hip not another gadget?
I work with a guy that does qr short code promotion at events, this would be a wasteful and expensive alternative to printing a limited selection qr codes. Or alternatively as he does, you can register via sms or email via your phone for a digital game piece.
fuck qr anyway, i roll upc baby
one love boz
dbloc,
these little stickers have been razors and other household items for nearly a decade. look under the the upc sticker and you can find the circle indention. this is what that is

so it looks like iphone doesn't have NFC chips but android phones do
- scarabin0
man, i was all excited until i learned that it's been around since 2004 and that nobody has really given a shit about it and its support is in devices weak

hey boz thanks for the post. As much as I dislike RFID it will do wonders in retail.
- VikingKingEleven0
scarabin thats because the retail scene hasn't been set up. The first thing had to do was convert all analog TV signals to digital. RFID runs on radio so they had to clear the airwaves.
Once thats complete RFID will move forward.

it'll take a few years till there's enough smartphones with NFC chips, what would help is if Apple implement it in their iPhone since they're the hip phone of the moment.
- Not as hip as Android phones.. btw Samsung Galaxy S2 is selling better than iPhone alone. Just had to put it out there.Boz

give me iphone support and i will use it in movie campaigns. tap your phone on a poster or standee to see the trailer or buy tickets? yes please
- Why bother with posters at all?LCD prices continually plummet. Low Cost OLED is just around the corner. Just install them in theaters you can run the trailer on a loop or upload your latest motion poster. Also theaters can sell product ad space in between the trailers.jonny_quest_lives
