- Sorry but that's a waste of money. They already have programmable thermostats.section_014

Oh, everyone wants to do the home automation. Microsoft tried their table thingy. Just like everyone had tried touch screens and mp3 players for awhile before Apple got their hands on them. It's just about having the ecosystem to pull it off. Apple can't just make it happen overnight, they have to train the masses in their style of interaction (Siri, touch screens, etc) so that they can eventually do home automation. Just my thoughts.

No more mac pros (G5s). Apple doesn't want the user to be able to open their machines anymore.
- says who? also, they haven't made G5s in YEARS dude. Apple's Pro line is hte EASIEST to open, alsomonospaced
- I have a buddy who's in sales for them. My work mac pro is from 08!stoplying

People have been talking about home automation/integration for 20 years and it still hasn't happened, though the technology has existed.
But do you really want your lights and home security system and carpets getting a spinning beach ball of death?
- because nobody's done it rightmonospaced
- no, but i'd like it to predict my use and conserve energy.doesnotexist

humans are too irrational and fucked in the head to want everything automated.
Only a psychopath or OCD would want an automated existence.
let's not lose sight of that.
who's round is it?
- people love Sirimonospaced
- I think only Americans want automated everything. Not to generalise in any way.MrT
- we'll see... they just added japanese and chinese to siri's capabilitiesmonospaced

We have some beefed up 2007 mac pros that juniors use, they still go pretty well 5 years later after being used continuously during that period. Crazy expensive hardware, but you can't fault their reliability or build quality.
I would love to get a new one, but in Aus they are about 1200 dollars more expensive than the states! So the the price is even more obscene here..

I think that apple is going away from hi-end desktops
they make more money from iphones and ipads...
I guess in the end of the day all they care about is their profit and margins....
the "they care more about the consumer" is a load of bollocks.
they care as much as hp or any other corporation....

I have to admit that I have not brought a Mac Pro in almost 7 Years, it just seem to be over kill to run the likes of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. I think the only time you need that kind of performance is for 3D or Film work, The iMac and even the new Mac Mini are more then up to doing the job at hand.
But I have to admit that Apple have done sod all to update the Pro hardware range in years, the company has just put in a new CPU in the same old box and said there you go. I wonder where the iPhone or iPod would be if they did the same thing to that product line.
- You're right. If you're doing 3d, you're not going to be using a Mac anyways.section_014

iphone and ipad are mass market products,
and that's what I think they will be focusing on

"No more mac pros (G5s). Apple doesn't want the user to be able to open their machines anymore."
More like pro machines are not very profitable.

"More like pro machines are not very profitable."
I hope Apple uses their massive stockpile of billions of dollars to offset the relatively miniscule losses they might have on their Pro models. They don't release sales data on them for a reason. Even still, although many of us don't see the point in them keeping a tower model, I know a ton of people that rely on Apple workstations for their businesses to run. Editors, and well, much of the television/film industry requires machines like this, with quick HD swapping, RAID, upgradeable video cards and server capabilities (these took over when they discontinued the Xserve). All Apple "really" needs to do is upgrade the cpu/gpu and tack on cutting edge Thunderbolt and the Pro would be up-to-date. I definitely see them doing this, especially if they want them to outshine the iMacs.
- I think they'll upgrade, just to HAVE that consumer-type not go over to PC.fyoucher1
- Most folks who are on Macs, have all Mac shit.fyoucher1
- That's a total generalization though. I could be totally off.fyoucher1
- They're invested in Apple SOFTWARE too. FinalCut and the licenses they have for the Pros.monospaced

apple.com/pro hasn't been update in 3 years. Says it all.
Now that Apple have walmart consumers in their pocket they don't really need "professionals" to drive their brand & market share forward.
In theory tech should be so fast now that a mac pro is overkill, though I have a 4 year old tower and it runs AE with ease compared to the new-ish laptop. Full size solid hardware, graphics cards and cpu's make a huge difference.
- honestly, my 2.5 year old $600 Hackintosh runs CS faster than my friends brand new macbook provaxorcist

Is iOS 11.4 draining your iPhone's battery?
Have you noticed that your battery doesn't last as long since you installed iOS 11.4 on your iPhone? You're not alone.
If you've noticed that the battery life on your iPhone is not what it used to be, it's likely that the problem isn't with your iPhone or some setting or app, but a bug in iOS 11.4.
Apple's support forum has been blowing up with complaints from users that battery life has been seriously curtailed since installing iOS 11.4. The problems seems to be reasonably widespread and affects the iPhone line up across the board.
