Remember when Apple used to have the Apple Lisa, Apple Mac and Apple IIGS?
I think those days are here again for Apple desktops.
Rumors that Apple will integrate a new chip into a macbook pro and drop intel may have some truth to it.
Apple dropping Intel on Macbook Pro's?
Unlikely.
Apple creating a new desktop (and perhaps laptop) line with an A5 and iOS?
Maybe.

I could even see Apple phasing out the mac and getting designers used to an iOS workflow by pushing new apps with more features than their mac counterparts.
- Not possible. Touch screens cannot operate CS5 software in too many cases.CyBrainX
- It might be a different story if Apple had more competitive creative software to compete.CyBrainX
- ...software that could work with touch screens, which I heavily doubt is even possible at this point.CyBrainX
- Apple would have to create something , maybe an Aperture or FCP for iOS PRO (haha)team_zissou
- but touch screen computers in combo with wacom tablets? that could work..bananana

I don't care as long as they remain competitive and run all the shit I need.
Even Microsoft is going to release Windows 8 for ARM, so there's a clear trend there.
I don't think we are going to see consumer computers with ARM processors soon, but I do think we'll see more server offerings with that.

the mac division isn't making as much $$ as the i-whatever division...
-Merge iOS and MacOS hardware/software?
or
-Leave MacOS hanging with the occasional refresh + intel update?
- This concept of merging iOS & MacOS is interesting, logical & also slightly worrisome...ideaist
- They should make an iOS shell app. And keep OSX chugging along for now.NathanNice

Whatever the new Power Mac is, I need it yesterday:
I know their are rumours ranging between they'll discontinue it, to delayed processors from Intel to literally any day/week now...
Anyone else waiting for the pro refresh that hasn't occurred in years?!
iMac's have a breaking point & the thought of photoshop on a Air is laughable...
- Power Mac. Haven't heard that since the '90smonospaced
- lolz; Mac Pro...ideaist
- huh? I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign simultaneously on my Air. Not one hiccup.CanHasQBN

I think Apple will continue to cater to the niche professionals who use the Mac Pro line.
- iPhone and iPad is making all the income.kgvs72
- that doesn't mean they're going to destroy their roots in the creative worldmonospaced
- agreed, they have to imo, if only for perception's sakeprophetone

I see Apple's new technology shift as a sign of the future of how they will integrate it into our lives. I imagine walking into my home and saying something like, "turn on my favorite music, and bring up the most recent headlines" as I take off my shoes. Meanwhile, my system turns on, the news pops up on my TV via an integrated system much like Siri on the iPhone. Apple's really good at making technology simple and powerful while running in the background. That's just how I see it, especially now that we're in the "post-PC era" according to them.

Monospaced, I read that and would personally just opt out. I dont want machines and corporate interests integrated that deeply into my life. But thats getting harder and harder to do. That for me is the scary part.
- yeah, but I think they'll do it in a friendly way, not in a way that you can't escapemonospaced
- corporations doing it in friendly way... hahaHAHA!!pr2
