Oh and one last question, do you guys know the average cab time/cost from SFO to say, Union Square? I'm trying to compare cab vs. private shuttle...

*BUMP
I'm hitting SFO 1 - 7 December.
Drop me hate mail if you'd like to drink, do a collab, hang out, need some work done, check out a gallery, drink beer, take photos, film something, make finger puppets in girls.
That is all.

Going back this week.
Grant's Tobacconist on Market near 2nd – good place to get some cigars? Yelp puts the highest rated shop out in Sunset, but I'm not going out that way.

Q:Are there more or fewer crazy people walking around the streets than there were about 8 years ago when I was last in San Francisco?
I took 5 bus rides in SF and there was an entertainly funny crazy person on 2 of them, and a psycho on 2 of them.... only 1 "sane" bus ride out of 5
- nope, most have died or moved to LA. seriously.robotron3k

the tenderloin isn't the worst. don't walk down turk at 3 am. i lived in it for 3 years and it's actually the only part of san francisco i really like anymore. the rest is all gentrification and rich people. i had better conversations with crackheads and drunks at edinburgh castle than i ever had with some techie nonsense douche in the mission.
i did, however, witness one murder and hear someone get beat half to death outside my window, so there's always a downside.

↑ This makes me remember the time we were trapped in our place at Golden Gate and Baker for about 6 hours while they investigated a murder and attempted to clean the blood from the sidewalk. It was creepy walking by that stain on the way to Albertson's for the next few weeks. o_O

^ Avoid Market street if crazy street people scare you.

still plenty of crazy people to go around.

The crazy people in SF I interacted with were different than those in Chicago, New York or even some college towns, where crazy people are often very interesting to interact with...
SF...not sure if it was the drugs or the therapists.... yes, I've spent time on Market street, tenderloin, etc...
- dirtier in SFmonospaced
- it is dirtier. and the longer i live here it just seems to get worse. kinda shitty.lvl_13

The Curiosity Shoppe (mentioned in one of the maps up-thread) is closed. Anything else like it? From the description I could tell my bf would have liked checking it out.
- Is that the spot on valencia? The name has left me but I seem to recall more than one "curiosity shoppes" on that strip in Mission.dorkKn1ght
- Google Maps only turns up one in the city, on Valencia, and says it's closed/relocated.i_monk

Just got back from 11 days in SF and ate out once at this dodgy looking vietnamese place in the Tenderloin. Serious vomiting and diarrhea. Other than that, amazing city. Lots of great things to see and do.

it was a neat little shop. had a bunch of stuff that i liked, but it was a bit like expensive knick-knacks.
Actually the place that took the old space is somewhat like it. kind of arty, some jewelry, art mags and some clothes. i overheard the girl in there talking about how the old curiosity shoppe people totally helped them move in and they are all friends. you can tell it's not the same shop, but almost more of an evolution.
i can only image the rent has to be astronomical for the location...even though the space is tiny. i hope they can survive.
