Got a client who would prefer to use an open source CMS for what will be a large product review site with classifieds, forums, members area etc..
Can anyone recommend suitable open source CMS which is flexible enough for a site like this?
THANKS!

I've been using Python/Django which is great for the kind of stuff you mentioned...gotten to the point where I can throw together pretty much any site functionality in just a few hours.
On the PHP side of things, take a look at Expression Engine - not free but it's probably the best option between Wordpress which is somewhat limited and the clunkiness of something like Drupal or Joomla.

mmm I always recommend
http://www.wolfcms.org
because I use it for everything... Easy to write php plugins to take care of your specific functionality (to admin your db tables in the main cms admin), there are a few dozen good plugins already. It's a piece of piss to get going.

Concrete 5 and CMS Made Simple are great systems. Concrete 5 has a great UI for the end user, but I am not sure how large a site I would use it for. Are we talking hundreds or thousands of pages?
- C5 wouldn't cut it.meffid
- 100's of pages ... which will grow to 1000's.RoyBoyII
- Yeah, much as I like C5, it wouldn't be the tool for a large job.Continuity

Drupal. Extremely flexible and versatile.

I'm backing Drupal on this as well, we're working on something now that incorporates everything you've mentioned and more (I'll post it here on launch) and it's been amazing. Hosting on a vps is key though.

SilverStripe is a very good suggestion. I like using it too.

Another Drupal vote. The learning curve is kinda steep, but it's powerful, flexible, and has a very active community behind it.

One more vote for Drupal as well. Yeah, a bit of working out at the start getting the set up right with the modules, but after that its a great CMS - really powerful and you can shape it to your needs visually and code wise.

I once was asked to bid on "completing" a so-called "almost complete" drupal project... I looked at the other guy's code for 2 days and couldn't understand too much of it, except in the context of a constantly-changing-specs project form hell....
I got the feeling that he left because the project had changed direction so often he had to keep re-kludging stuff, it was very hard for me to give any estimate, so I passed on it... .rumor has it the project's still in limbo a year later....
so, not to be weird, but the freedom of Drupal can be a bit of a curse sometimes, the limitations of tighter CMS's can be useful hammers to hit down the random changes of direction that project managers without a brain come up with sometimes....

Drupal .. but make sure you employ someone who is decent.
