Which do your prefer when viewing an artist's web site? Clicking or Scrolling

On what?

if you are looking at artwork, designers portfolio, etc do you prefer clicking on each piece and waiting for the server .. or do you just prefer scrolling down a page with multiple pieces?

Clickling is good for an intimate experience where you are presented with only one item.Scrolling is better served for utility purposes where you want to find scan and find things quickly.

i like to have the option of both.
Not trying to be awkward — I really do.

Scrolling,
You can scroll a an entire page (normally) a lot quicker than than scanning thumbs/text and choosing.
- Where is the logic? do you not scroll thumbs and text?hotroddy

A click that requires you to scroll to find the button, and the you have to rub the button up and down to activate it.
- Porn site maybe? Sounds like a clitoral euphemism ... hmm *opens flash*Sneakybadger2

good question!
I'm starting to build my two websites, one will be just pictures of walls I've painted with horizontal scroll, wall after wall. with the corresponding notes under them.on the other it will be illustration and other things I do where you can click to choose either projects or techniques.
for me it depends of what kind of work you will be presenting and the best way to show it. i also depends on your personal taste. I like both.
And together also, like this one:
- the second one could also be like: click to project then scroll the project to see. I like that.oey

for showcasing work...
i dont know about anybody else, i actually love using keyboard arrows. its got a nice tempo, especially when u can go through an entire project and then when its done, jump to another project. ui would have to be strong here imho, considering the need to show where you are at all times.
but since the op is about scrolling or clicking, i prefer clicking if all the content is locked in the browser (a la 900x###), obv. server has to be pretty decent.

http://www.32round.com/ - this is sick!, but there's a disconnect when from browsing projects and when you're actually in the project...
although in flash pretty "sure" it can be done html5...

neither, show me what I have to see

I assume you're talking about galleries.
Clicking, but it should be absolutely mandatory to have next and previous buttons that don't shift position. If I'm just looking at images I'll be pissed if I have to shift my attention to some kind of navigation instead of just clicking without looking.- It's disturbing how often sites don't have this type of functionality.CyBrainX

I like clicking a specific category and then scrolling through its contents - having to repeatedly click is annoying.

i like scrolling when browsing through the images within a certain project, but i'd rather click to go to the next or previous project
