Hey folks, I'm new here. I've signed up to share some of my music with the music lovers here, and get your opinion on it too. The music is piano/electronic/percussion.
I'm planning on releasing these three songs as a sort of abstract, internet-only EP. The recording quality is not as crisp as I'd like but it's good enough for what I was trying to achieve. Please give me your feedback on these songs and try to be as critical as is necessary. But also be kind.

P.S. Upon listening to this music some of you may be inclined to call me a troll but I assure you that I'm dead serious :)

Calling it "Experimental" doesn't hide or excuse your lack of talent.

Hmm, interesting. It's always a race to have the funniest response on this site isn't it?
I asked for useful criticism because from what I've seen there are quite a few open-minded, accepting music lovers on this site. It's unfortunate that those same open-minded individuals feel the need to be so cruel when they encounter something that isn't part of their indie-hipster-blog complex.
In case you don't know, calling music "experimental" IS an excuse to make music without having any discernible talent. It's naive to assume that music can only be made by those who have mastered an instrument, I just thought I wouldn't have to be the one to explain that to all of you.
If anyone has any REAL criticism I'm still waiting...
- make all the 'music' you want. if you're not going to put in the effort, don't expect anyone to like it.reinitialize

I am a fan of "experimental" music, but good music in this genre doesn't call itself experimental for its own sake. Maybe you should offer some background on what you are trying to accomplish, and you will hear some more constructive criticism.

I listened to all of the 3 tracks that you posted, and I think I liked it very much.

if this is an experiment how can we be the judges of it success? since it's so cutting edge what am I to use as reference?

bettertomorrow raises a good point, I do understand that in order for this music to really be appreciated by anyone other than me it would take a lot of mental strain and unconditional acceptance. After all it is hardly even music in the traditional sense. To explain myself though is also counterproductive to exactly what I'm trying to accomplish.
I'm interested in the idea of a finished product of music, and what defines a song. It seems like there are many variations to this idea but one consistency I've noticed is attention to an actual beginning, middle and end, with changes and coordination throughout that has been "designed" to use the word broadly. What I've done is sit down and play naturally as if there were no attention any sort of consistency or design other than what was immediately apparent in my head at the time.
That being said I think that this kind of explanation to any music can devalue it greatly, and knowing the artist who's made a piece is really kind of irrelevant to the actual product, which I believe should speak for itself.

I also listened too all 3 tracks, constructive criticism, here you go:
Music is an energetic wave... Learn to feel and ride that wave... all music has feeling embedded in it...(experimental or not)... your music seems to have no soul or clear direction and lacks contrast, it has no anticipation, no builds or releases of pressure..
Most of your piano playing is at one level (your slamming the keys) take the time to listen to the intensity of the notes.
your drums are sub par and honestly i wouldnt even call untitled3 a track.... its more of a drum loop that needs way better rhythm..
even though you call them experimental, your tracks lean more to the standard definitions of what one would call standard music, and in that realm they fail miserably...
But hey, keep at it... time and practice!
A little recommendation for you too:
listen to work by these guys:
medeski martin & wood
it'll be a sneak peek to where your music could be going..Cheers.

Thank you thelonius, that kind of commentary is really what I'm looking for. I don't mind being "butthurt" if you actually explain your criticism.
I get all that stuff about the rhythm and lack of it, it wasn't so much intentional as it was what I ended up with under the restrictions I was placing on myself.
I'd appreciate more people putting as much thought as you put into your response.

I'm pretty sure you're trolling, but just in case...
the problem here is that though your lack of skill you've created pieces that are inherently musical. and so are perceived as a failure to make music rather than a realization of a (almost dadaist) methodology. basically it's a really terrible Fluxus about 50 years too late.

The thing I struggled with was the beat... I'm guessing you're not playing with a metronome, which is hurting things a lot (to me). the clear lack of that consistency makes it hard to listen to... mostly on the drums.
The piano one I like more, but there are points were the same issues is heard. And repitition made it drone.
When you were talking about what defines a song, it'd be interesting to write something and pull it apart into seperate tracks. Take this song...
pull apart the individual parts and it seems like "huh", but put them together and you have a fun little metal jam. Just something to think about in "defining" or "creating" a song and how it's approached.
