The thing I struggled with was the beat... I'm guessing you're not playing with a metronome, which is hurting things a lot (to me). the clear lack of that consistency makes it hard to listen to... mostly on the drums.
The piano one I like more, but there are points were the same issues is heard. And repitition made it drone.
When you were talking about what defines a song, it'd be interesting to write something and pull it apart into seperate tracks. Take this song...
pull apart the individual parts and it seems like "huh", but put them together and you have a fun little metal jam. Just something to think about in "defining" or "creating" a song and how it's approached.
