I just wish Adobe weren't hell bent on the flash player having to play video... it was much nicer when it was just used for interface design, or animation.
The thing is though is that Flash has always ran slower than Director ever did :(
- Director was the shit eh? Macromedia cherished performance...ideaist

Finally success. Tried the apple store yesterday at 8am and there were already 50+ people in line. Woke up this morning at 4:30 and couldn't sleep and realized that fedex ships on Saturdays and that they'd probably have some this morning. Got to the store at 5:30am and there were already 9 people in line. They opened at 10 but gave out tickets early and I ended up getting a 64GB wifi black one. Its all they had left and I was not about to waste all that time this morning.
Using it now and I must say that I am impressed. Keyboard takes a little getting used to but I found that if I look at the keys it is actually very easy to type fast. Originally wanted the 32gb but what the hell, I'll be using this for tons of things and to travel without a laptop. Will make a nice music sketchpad instead of always having to fire up Logic just to get some basic ideas out.
Anyone else having trouble getting one?
- Pre-ordered at Best Buy, should be here in the next day or two. I just can't wait in line, much rather wait a few days. I went with the wifi 16gb.formed

Just wondering...if I have an iPad2 with 3G, can I use it as a hotspot for my laptop the same way I can use my iPhone4 as a hotspot?

Anyone have any suggestions for anti-glare screen cover? Typing on this motherfucker is as much fun as trying to view it in the sun. That being said, I do love it.

Android will have full Flash soon enough.
Regarding iPads: Any decent laptop for the last decade could run Flash. If you're carrying a device you can't put in your pocket, your standards should be at least that high. Why doesn't Apple get blamed for this? I can't believe the Android tablets are that bad with Flash. Their phones even run it.
Then, you should also compare how an intensive HTML5 site performs on an iPad. How many of them are there anyway? Is the only solution Apple will accept that we dumb down the creative on every project for now on?

^totally agree.
my android phone plays flash video and can run flash sites. Maybe you can forgive apple for claiming the ipad 1 couldnt run flash, but the ipad 2 is EASILY powerful enough.
Saying their mobile devices wont support flash ever, because its to intensive / drains to much battery is bs. In a years time the tech will be twice as powerful and they will still be saying the same bs.
im surprised so many designers dont care about apples bullshit approach to flash. Designers should feel somewhat concerned that a company is actively trying to remove a very useful, very popular and very accessible web format, solely for their own profits and own agenda at the cost of professional flash developers losing work. Surely anyone in this industry feels slightly concerned by it.
Why should we give computer manufacturers the power to choose what formats we should be able to view? Thats ridiculous.
- off topic but hey...Hombre_Lobo
- I developed tons of Flash sites, I am happy to see it go. It was the only element of web controlled by a corporationraf
- It always felt foreign in a browser, like an implant. Nnever communicated with browser/JS/DOM wellraf
- It did give more freedom of expression and in the end was a better technology. I don't miss it a bitraf
- I trust Adobe much less than I trust Apple. I can stop using Apple, I am forced to use Adoberaf
- v interesting point dude - 'only part controlled by a corporation, felt like an implant'.Hombre_Lobo
- This is how the web evolves, two steps ahead, one step back. I got used to it :)raf
- At least it gets civilians confused and renders us experts :Draf

for the record, i think the ipad is good, its interface is great, i liked my iphone so of course i'd like the ipad, its the same experience, which is good.
Although, i personally prefer the feel of the ipad 1, the ipad 2 is a little too thin for comfort i think.
- this one is on topic :)Hombre_Lobo
- But shouldn't you want more for your iPad than what you get on a phone?CyBrainX

my parents just got one last week.. and it definitely nicer to hold.
there are problems.
smart cover, sucks. compared to the black wrap cover from the 1st gen, it is hard to hold the ipad 2 with it attached.
camera. while the major feature was of the ipad 2 was camera, in reality, skyping using it makes me motion sick.. unless the ipad is on the a table. i can stand about 3 minutes of talking to someone holding it before i feel a bit ill.. and i usually dont get motion sick at all.
apart from those annoyances.. feels more solid
- not going to rush out and sell my ipad to get a ipad 2..autoflavour

my business partner just got one a week ago. he focuses on customer relations, sales, copywriting, and the business finance, so it's basically replaced his desktop. running into a few snags and limitations with it, but all in all it seems to work well for what he does. plus, our clients seem to like it, and it's almost paid for itself over the last couple days.

Thanks to Uncle David Ogilvy, I just got one to 'test iPad apps' with...
I have the iPad Gen1 at home - this thing totally puts it to shame with all the added features...
