Anyone got it?
Good?
- Hombre_Lobo0
It's pretty much identical to the samsung galaxy S hardware wise. Except the galaxy s had a removable micro sd card (better).
The benefit of the nexus s I've the galaxy s is that it has the latest android OS, and will recieved future updates more promptly than any other android device.
If you cam afford it, the nexus s with it's latest OS and better support is probably a better choice. But I'd go for the samsung myself. The OS on it is decent and if you don't like you can put a custom OS on it (known as roms).
Be warned the battery of both isn't mind blowing, most users say they need to charge or every evening. You can buy very cheap batteries for the galaxy s though, not sure about the nexus s.
Also the nexus s has a NFC (near field communications) chip,
which in theory, if stores have he correct technology, means you can use your phone to purchase goods. Will this take of soon? I'm doubtful.Yes, I'm an android geek too!

I was just thinking about this further and remebered the reason I didn't get the galaxy s was becuse of all the dual core, tegra 2 phones coming out this year. The lg star, motorola atrix (iirc) and others. Some should be out before or during march, so maybe worth waiting for.
- Hombre_Lobo0
Check out the moto atrix on engadget.
You can plug a monitor, keyboard and mouse into the dock and use the phone like a desktop computer. Looks ace, genius direction for
smart phones!

Motorola, I remember them!
Hm, might grab a nexus s online, try it and return if no good - kind of high hopes for it being a Google fan!
- Hombre_Lobo0
^motorola made some of the worst phones! But they're new ones
look good.Go for it dude. The nexus S looks sweet. Mega snappy and google will prioritise the updates for it. Yeh I'm a google fan too, mainly becuse they name their android os versions after deserts, like 'gingerbread' and 'eclair', then they put big statues / models of the desert in their gardens in their head office! Hmmmmm
- ernexbcn0
Hombre, looking at how Google is treating Nexus One users it's risky to state that they are going to prioritize Nexus S users...
- Andrew_D0
After having three iPhones, I'm gunna give this baby a whirl. My boss has the Atrix and it's pretty rad, but I kinda like the stripped down, straight up Android running approach of this phone.
Anyone got one? ernexbcn?
- Atkinson0
i had one then went back to the iphone. It's a good phone but iphone is better IMO
- Boz0
And there you go, just pay attention to your response up there.. ernexbcn.. that response is really nothing but BS.. Google doesn't do anything for Nexus One owners.. I'm one..
You deal with HTC because it's their phone.. Google doesn't make Nexus One.
- you really are a whiney little bitch aren't you. Lighten up sonny jim, this is the interwebzset
- no..I just hate when someone is telling me something and on the other hand you troll.Boz
- not sure what that meant, but yes my comment was a little provocative and unnecessary.set
- not really set, Boz is on a roll today and needs a little slap.zenmasterfoo

Andrew.. Nexus S is a great phone.. it's fast but it's not the best phone in terms of hardware and what it gives you overall like Nexus One was.. This is more like a very nice mid-range phone with stock Android.. if you want it to be simple, stock and don't need the latest and greats in terms of dual core and all that.. you will love Nexus S..
The design is also slick. I like the whole curved screen thing.. If you do any development Nexus S would be a good choice too..
But if you are just buying it as a phone, there are better phones out there.. but they will come with the skins unless you do XDA route and do custom ROM.
- What do you reco for Android, Boz? Hardware wise.Andrew_D
- raf0
Wait, are you saying Nexus S is a worse phone than the Nexus One was?
- Atkinson0
@Andrew_D the battery is terrible, the build is flimsy in comparison to iphone. Usability is good but not as smooth as apple. I just got tired of apple and wanted to try it but it's far from the iphone overall. I found the main complaint to be 3g connection, or lack of. Iphone I can connect almost anywhere on my commute. Nexus s I had to wait till I got to work!
- Boz0
I dont' know Andrew.. it has come to the point of what you need out of the phone..
I would buy Atrix now because i'm infatuated by the whole converts into a laptop thing with dock. But I've heard their Atrix software is abit buggy for that.. I mean it might get fixed but I don't know.
It's a fantastic phone though..
RIght now there are 2 phones I would actually wait for..
One is LG Optimus 3D and the other one is the new Samsung Galaxy S II.. Samsung Galaxy S II would probably be Nexus S type of phone but with dual core and all that magic..so much better performing phone.
HTC Thunderbolt is sick as well (only Verizon). HTC Inspire 4G is a good phone but lacks front camera. SO if you want to chat on Skype or something you won't be able to.
So I really can't say which is best for you.. if you tell me what your needs are (do you want to use it for development or not, do you want to play with it with mods and stuff etc)..
From hardware manufacturer standpoint my preference in phone manufacturers is:
1. HTC
2. Motorola
3. SamsungI don't have enough experience with LG but I've heard good things about them recently.
- Andrew_D0
Boz,
I'm pretty straight forward with my phone usage. I want something quick (Dual Core) that has a good camera(720p+ for video), front facing as well. Yeah, I'll use Skype on it.
I just saw the reviews on the Galaxy S II, looks pretty badass. Super AMOLED screen is nice, I'll probably watch movies on it when travelling and the like. I've never owned an LG, either. Is the Optimus 3D similar to that HTC 3D phone where it takes 3D photo's and movies?
Wish I could test out all the latest hardware when purchasing, would take the fucking guess work out of buying a phone.
- Atkinson0
you can test, buy online, you have 7-14 days to return no questions.
- Not sure about that here in Canaduh. I'll have to look into it. Thanks, mate.Andrew_D

Someone wrote recently that the difference in the way iPhone and Android phones are sold is this:
"The next Android phone will be the best phone ever!"
...as opposed to...
"This iPhone is the best phone ever!"It sounds like a smartass generalisation, but isn't it true?
I am a pretty much satisfied iPhone user and only occasionally lurk into the Android scene. The overall impression I get that Apple sells the same phone all the time, only gradually improving it once a year while the Android is all about the next phone which will shit on its legacy and the is hackable/isn't hackable OS shenanigans.
I mean, the apps I bought on my first iPhone still work on the most recent iOS. Not all, but I think most new apps work on my gf's first-gen iPhone. I mean, the usable ones, like Angry Birds, Scrabble, travel guides, language handbooks or task management ones work and she has no need to upgrade.
Just curious, do old Android apps work on latest phones?
- pizzafire0
i don't have anything to say about the phone as i'm using iphone but there is a fun time killer of a campaign on youtube right now. nicely done. check it out:
