Happy weekend!
I'm in the process of working on a brand redesign to pull a travel agency out of visual hell (see http://sarracini.com). It's been a bit of an uphill struggle, but I think I'm getting somewhere.
I'd be hugely grateful for general preference of serif vs sans tagline + overall feedback and commentary on the concept/execution of the logo (see below)
The client's key values are (self-)described as:
• integrity
• honesty
• passionate
• interested
• committed
• connected
• relationships
• willing to go extra mile
• experienced

of the 2, the top one is easier to read - but it looks like the bag icon was developed by someone different than the "sarracini" type

colors are too similar
suitcase is generic and there's that travel company that uses a yellow one in their commercials, though yours may be a briefcase
why is the tagline is before the name?
looks dated/boring

The color purple does not convey travel to me, and the suitcase is cliché. That is my two cents and initial reaction to your logo...

I like the uptick version but feel like the type is unresolved. Utopian's offers the best type treatment so far. Maybe you could explore that direction with other font choices that read better, or try mixing the case on the two words (like l/c Sarracini and all caps travel, or the opposite). I also like the simplified suitcase but it has an awkward relationship with the SarraciniTravel Type. Maybe it would work better as a smaller icon that somehow works in with the agency name.
