Does anyone know how to extract single pages (as pdfs or jpegs) from a multiple page pdf in an automated process by using scripts?
- d_rek0
you can actually do it very easily from the acrobat menu bar
document --> extract pages
done!

Or open the pdf as media box(es) in photoshop.

make sure the PDF isn't locked, though. The extract options disappear from the menu if the document is secured.

Acrobat or Illustrator or Indesign or Photoshop will all take care of this for you. Manually, that is.

Thanks guys but i need it to be an automated function rather than open 1 at a time in acrobat. We are possibly looking at extracting pages from over 100 pdfs and was looking to see if at all possible to have an automated function kind of like the batch process in photoshop. Any advice on this greatly appreciated.
- over 100!? that could take WEEKSmonospaced
- even months!

How automated? I mean, you're gonna have to tell it which pages to extract regardless, so get going. If you want a 100 page PDF extracted into separate pages, check "separate files."

I think you can do the following.
combine first all the documents into ONE single document
(that is one action)then you extract all to single pages
(second action)voila!
- interesting... but each pdf is 90mbscitizen_h
- SO WHAT!? What the fuck do you want?monospaced
- i give up. this chap is not only fucking lazy but also works on a shit computer...maikel

Automated as in the 'One click of a button' theory. :-)
Probably would then split the whole multi-page pdf into single page files.
- citizen_h0
Each pdf is around 90mbs
- monospaced0
90MBs? Dude, you're SO screwed. It's impossible to extract pages from a PDF that big (unheard of!), and if you're considering over 100 of them, you should probably get your hands on a super computer.
- citizen_h0
haha thanks guys.
Luckily its not me who has to do this :-)

i think a friend of mine has a 80386, that might have about enough processor power to pull it through...
- TenaciousG0
Who thought doing this with one-hundred 90mb PDF files would be a good idea?
- who ever doesn't have to do itjaylarson
- ...and we're gonna need that on Monday morning, yeah.TenaciousG

under advanced > document processing select batch processing.
click new sequence.
click select commands.
select execute javascript.
paste in this.extractPages(1,1);
(the first is page start, second is page end, note pages start at zero!)
select your input and output folder.
run that shit.- or export all as, or whatever you need to do, etc., and so forth.acescence
