I did that for 10 weeks one time. No food or anything by mouth, either. I was in the hospital, in Intensive Care.
I'm not going back.
- everything anal huh?Miguex
- "everything anal" is the reason he WAS in intensive care.iCanHasQBN

I'd be questioning the merits of the "education" I was receiving.

scratch that - no books / magazines / newspaper either! you can talk and you can write. those are the two allowed things.
some sort of generational media reliance test or something... no clue. didn't go to journalism school.

well considering I go camping for a week plus at a time and do that without a problem, i suppose i could.

Uncanny, I just did this. Went up into the mountains for 2 days. No electronics. All I had with me was some comic books, my (possibly imaginary) girlfriend and an appetite for good cuisine.
- That's funny, cuisine and camping is like fish and bikes.SeriousFreelancing

Retire, relax, enjoy your family. It is just a *whatever*. Not worth it.
- nadanada0
i think i could do it.
i think the hardest part for me would be the music. it's the only thing i consistently do all day, every day - big part of my life + creative process, as i'm sure many of you agree....

Hell I do that when I go camping.

fuck yeah. I did it. on my vacation. I was laying on the beach for two weeks drinking pina colada all day..oh while reading a good book.

Internet would be harder than music for me.
This isn't a horrible idea. In Journalism you're required to work your ass off researching and looking up information. With the Internet, you can do so much more and there is a non-stop flow of information. The prof just wants to take it back a notch before it comes on full force for the rest of the year, I imagine.
I remember a lot of kids in class had a hard time even comprehending reading a newspaper every day just to get the daily news around the world (let alone practice with analyzing information).

Having said that, each time I go on vacation I find it's easy to just immerse myself in the place I'm in and not worry about the Internet or music. That being said, this student is going to be surrounded by this stuff each and every day - he's not on vacation.

remember - no books / newspapers either.
talking,
writing.that's it.
- You said books and mags are allowed in your first post.juhls
