^ Yes. Is a 3rd season guaranteed? They killed of not only Jimmy, but his mom, the "masked sniper"... a lot of characters and relationships. To be honest Margarate's side of the script is boring, but they seem to be going in that direction. As good as Nucky/Buscemi is to watch, his character doesn't carry the show on it's onw, imo. (I'm such a geek, but I really liked this show so far.)
- Yep, confirmed.CygnusZero4
- Like Game of Thrones, they will find characters to put the show on after majors were killed off.CygnusZero4
- ok. well, i'll still be watching when it comes around.sine
- Jimmy's mother wasn't killed.CyBrainX

After the high bar set by the last few episodes, there was something a little off about the finale. Jimmy seemed too willing to go to his own death. Nucky suddenly turning into a cold hearted killer didn't really fit with the storyline.
Sort of makes you wonder if they killed him off because of difficulties on set (apparently Michael Pitt was fired by his production company recently).

Nelson, Rothstein and Owen are by far my favorite characters. What a shocking episode. This one was another great.

"What happened to Nucky?"
"Same thing that happens to everyone...just sooner"

^ Yes and no.
Eli is now on the run from them feds, and staying with Al Capone who is now running Chicago with his brother. Which means Eli will most probably do anything Al says, so him and Van Alden could become something interesting.
Dr Narcisse is working for Hoover to take down Garvey, which means Hoover will probably give him some leeway with a few things and possibly allow him to continue his drug business.
Chalky has lost everything after his daughter got shot, he will most probably go on a rampage for the Dr now. Which means a man with nothing to loose vs a federal informer.
And nothing has been said about how Joe Masseria will react to everything, but I'm sure Nucky won't have forgot how him and the Dr tried to take over his shit.
Its just put a lot of things in place for next season, which I would rather than Masseria, Narcisse, Eli etc get killed during Knox's meeting.
- I think Narcisse is out of the picture now. That was his comeuppance, basically becoming a slave to a white man.ukit2

At the closing of Richard's vet hall dance scene, I sat up in bed and shouted,

Info about season 3 from the above link.
So can we expect to see Al Capone come into his own as a formidable force next season?
As time goes on. The plan is now is we would come back in season 3 a little further into the future and start to really track Al Capone’s rise and — God willing — through the course of the series. By 1925, Capone was the guy everybody recognizes — the guy in the white fedora who’s firmly in charge of Chicago. Hopefully we’ll be on the air long enough to see that guy. Certainly in [season 3] we’ll start to see Capone on pretty much equal footing as Johnny Torrio in terms of who’s running the town.
You mentioned jumping forward in time for season 3. How long will that be? [Note: Season 2 was set in 1921]
We’re thinking about 16 months and starting the [third] season around the beginning of 1923, then maybe run through the end of 1923. It was an exciting year. All the people who stockpiled liquor started to run out, so competition between bootleggers became really fierce.

Dunno, the liberal agenda seems to have hijacked the show as so often happens. I am hoping they spend more time with the gangster side of things as it progresses.

I can’t imagine Nucky is going to be very pleased with Margaret donating all his land to the church.
I don’t think that will make anybody happy. The ramifications of that will be explored as the series progresses.
And I’m assuming Richard Harrow will continue as a key player?
Yes, Harrow will continue to be part of the show, absolutely.

This show is great...but I can't help thinking there's a problem that shows like this run into, which that it's really hard to maintain a coherent story arc over multiple seasons. You saw this problem with Mad Men, which when it started seemed to be heading for a more interesting storyline than ever actually materialized.
So I'm still wondering if they will ever tie the various strands together in any coherent way. It almost doesn't matter since it's just entertaining on a basic level to watch the great art direction, set design, etc., and all the acting is top notch...but still.

RIP Chappy!
Goodbye Gillian! The shit is gonna hit the fan next week.

Saw the first episode tonight. Pretty slow. Walking dead is sooooo much better.... actually too way different shows... FUCKIN scorsese is tied to this! and mark walberg... The sets actors props are all on a pretty pricey level. Im wondering if this will turn into another carnivale.... as far as being too slow on first episode i don't mind. But not everythign needs to be a transporter movie. And the throwback to fatty arbuckle was pretty awesome. Probably be good like a 20s sopranos, but with more interesting history to play off of. Gonna have to watch 2-3 tonight.

the liberal agenda? By that do you mean storytelling and character development?
