to be fair, there isnt much that isnt plagiarism anymore.
also, the people complaining dont sound very legit.
not that im saying he didnt copy anything but i think Hirst is more a marketer than an artist, which in a way is his art. he is selling a brand really, and getting rich off it, i dont necessarily agree with it or like his art but, fuck, haters gonna hate

Art has died. What is left is a sad imitation of art, with only the price tag remaining.

- –warhol brilliant???
like firefly compared with the sun on a piece of shit. Read Marcel Duchamp before.Miesfan - again, art isn't about form as much as it is about intuiting cultural change. we're living warhol's (and others) prophesy.showpony

Least he steals stuff that looks good, unlike Shepard Fairey who steals things and just makes tiresome shit

He's only gone and done what the likes of Picasso and Dali did before him and realised that they have a "brand" and decided to cash in on it and make the most of it.
If people are willing to pay the money for what they create then more fool them.
The same could be said for the likes of Shepard Fairey and Banksy.
You'd be stupid not to capitalise on that kind of situation too if you suddenly became a "famous designer" and could command stupid money (more than the actual worth) for what you do. Why the f*ck not. Everyone's out these days to screw YOU out of money (energy companies/banks/taxes etc) so why not , if you get the chance, screw others out of money who have more money than sense?
- and that means you must sell shit? i prefer P. ManzoniMiesfan

In what amounts to an admission of guilt - Damien Hirst has announced to the press he will be paying an undisclosed sum to charity as an out of court settlement for infringement upon copyright of Humbrol's 'Young Scientist' toy. The undisclosed sum will be donated to two British charities, Children Nationwide and the Toy Trust.
Further restrictions will be placed by Humbrol on the artist's reproduction of 'Hymn', Hirst's sculpture now owned by Charles Saatchi and currently on exhibit in the show 'Ant Noises' London. The Hull-based toy manufacturer sells over 10,000 toy sets of Anatomy Man per year and said they must protect their interests as Saatchi originally offered to sell small reproductions of 'Hymn' in his gallery shop and give a share of profits to Humbrol. Whether this arrangement will go forward, remains to be seen.
Hirst said: "I'm delighted that this matter is settled to the satisfaction of all parties concerned."
