This is a scathing article about the British pack of animals unleashed on un suspecting tourist destinations. I happen to agree.

Americans better represent. We can't be having this.

David Familton, a Briton who works in a club here, said that it was a question of emotional comfort. “It’s because of British culture — no one can relax, so they become inebriated to be the people they want to be,” he said.

these fuckers deserve all they get. i fucking hate the image they give of the uk as a whole... if they behave like that the country concerned should ban them from returning.

It's sad and very true. And that's why I avoid these 'chav' hotspots like the plague!

I love the brits,
they're the only one singing offensive songs in the subway here and every years we get the local "brits killed by tram" news report,God bless the Queen

Terrible. It's a very ugly side of UK society.
The blame can't lie solely on the shoulders of those who participate though. The UK is in a strange position. We're isolated, being an Island - and I think that this has a negative effect on our standing in mainland Europe, but socially the UK is also very segregated via class.
To a certain extent, I reckon the people involved have been failed by society. It doesn't make it more acceptable .. but I think it might help to show how deep rooted the problem is.
There's a 'Daily Mail'-led point of view that would quickly dismiss these people as 'chavs abroad' .. and talk about how society is doomed, and how we should all return to traditional values - when it was actually the failure of these traditional values that brought our society to this point.
A more progressive politics is needed. Poverty breeds desperation, and desperation manifests itself in many negative ways. Commercialism breeds the empty, vacuous pursuit of instant reward and gratification. If we dealt with these two central issues I think things might be able to start to get better.
- The people in the article aren't poverty stricken. They work in call centres and live with their parents.Fax_Benson

im not surprised by this article at all. ive seen this first hand and have plenty of english friends who admit to this behaviour as well!
drink anyone?
- aanderton0
I don't see why they don't just up the drinking age to 21 when visiting a foreign country.
Then again that'd pretty much kill tourism to places like Magaluf and Ibiza.

"More alarmingly, a 20-year-old British tourist partied with her sister and a friend into the early hours in Malia also in July, then returned to her hotel room and — although she had denied being pregnant — gave birth. Her companions say they returned later to find the baby dead; she has been charged with infanticid"

A few of my mates go out every week and get trashed to the point where they pass out, vomit, forget where/who they are etc etc.
I've never understood the appeal, the hangover is enough of a deterrent for me. Plus, it's costs a lot.
It's f*cking stupid.

Americans are the same, even worse in some cases, the difference being that the shitheads dont travel. It's not a unique social phenomenon, it's a byproduct of Ryanair.
- ThePublics0
Also, just imagine if Aussies had access to $9 flights to mainland Europe.

The weird thing about this story is that the Americans RARELY write scathing articles about Brits. The other thing is the quote from the mayor, " 'The government of Britain has to do something,” Mr. Lagoudakis said. “These people are giving a bad name to their country.' " It seems to be a huge problem in anglophone countries – America, Canada, UK, Australia.
