I sold my iPad to my little sister. Don't get me wrong it was cool and all, but much like this app after the initial moment of childlike wonder I couldn't find much of a use for it. Turns out that when I'm out doing stuff, I'm not too focused on computers, and when I'm home, a 24" screen is preferable to a 10" one.
Maybe I'll buy a 2nd or 3rd gen version if they come out with some better apps/ use cases (like support for SFTP), or if I go on a long road trip or become a homeless vagrant or something.
- You are meant to be browsing on the 10" screen when there's boring stuff on the 24" screen.ribit

Cool. I need to get me an iPad (but am going to wait for 2nd gen)
The guy in the video is a great multi-tasker. Talking, typing, and flipping through shit like it's nothing. He must get all the ladies. Although he needs to get a manicure or something. When they show a close up of his fingers flipping the page, he has all of this fungus and it looks like he bites his nails. Pri-teeee disgusting.

i don't know who here has started using Flipboard?!
that's if you've been able to add your facebook/twitter to it- the flipboard servers are at full capacity trying to keep up with the demand.the question i asked earlier in this thread is - why do they need servers? doesn't the app talk directly to the social networks?
seemingly (after taking a glance at the terms of service) your facebook/twitter login details are stored on their servers and they go and collect the feed data for you and then the app goes and gets it from their servers.
that might be great to aid speed and data organisation. however there must be a reason for these guys to invest heavy money in that infrastructure but give the app away for free. i have a pretty strong feeling they'll able to sell all sorts of information about their users at prices that will more than cover their server costs!
but of course none of this is clear to the user when they download the app or unknowingly enter their details. delightful.

Well for one thing I don't have to look at the ugly Twitpic page anymore when I'm following photo coverage of design events posted by designers I'm following on Twitter... plus it mixes up content in a way that makes it similar to reading a newspaper.. never sure what you are going to get on next page, without having to dig for it (nice).

Does Flash work?

Is anyone really gonna use this? NO.
Everyone who said it was cool should logout now.

It pulls from various content sources to create a nicely designed magazine based on your social sphere.

I downloaded this yesterday on the company ipad and it only handled 4 pages of data from Facebook. But their default magazines had like 80.
Just sayin.

- It's NICE because it's pretty looking and seems to function well
- It's WOW because it exists (unlike that vimeo version you posted)
- It's AWESOME because it's free.

Nope. Fucking monkeys...

I think it looks really cool. I'd have to use it a bit before I make a final judgment. I feel the same about the iPad in general.
