What sans serif font would you use with Plantin?

Avenir

Avenir Next LT pro to be precise.

Context?
The obvious choice, to me, would be Univers, for a basic - if boring - pairing.

You could go nuts, and use Plantin Schoolbook with AG Schulbuch too. :P

I was thinking of Mr Eaves but don't have it, FF Scala?

- On second thought, scratch this. It looks ass.Continuity

Plantin has a tall x-height, so Mr. Eaves would be a poor choice with its distinctly short x-height. As someone else said, it totally depends on the look you need. But, here are some safe choices based purely on construction and formal harmonies:
Gotham
Proxima Nova
Helvetica
AG
Benton SansVillage Type Foundry have their own take on Plantin, Galaxie Copernicus. It's more balanced imo, with more weights and features. I'm using it for a project right now and found it has the same exact x-height as Gotham.

Also second the Avenir Pro suggestion.

what gramme said... Monocle uses Plantin with Helvetica quite well...
