theres no V6 golf in aus. theres the R32, and the GTI and the soon to be released R.
Got it in black, leather, sunroof and DSG. DSG is great, brought it for a burn on some country roads yesterday, Exhaust gives a very satisfying pop when you shift, and she has a lovely growl. A car reviewer said that when you see a MK6 GTI in your rear view mirror its like a doberman chasing you

get the Audi.

I actually don't like the vw golf body nearly as much as the A3...looks like it's marketed to a 17 year old guy (I'm neither). I've heard they aren't as reliable but all my VW owning friends vehemently disagree. I'm also looking at a Volvo V50 (not as lusty but pretty nice).

i've driven a current volvo c70 (same platform as v50) and my parents own an older volvo s70. beautiful cars on the inside, and my mom's s70 at least is super-solid, even after 13 years. also, i have never sat in better seats than the volvo seats. super comfortable without being too squishy, and with just enough bracing on the sides to keep you tight in the seat around the corners. the suspensions on both cars are definitely more 'comfort' than 'sport' but that probably fulfills their intended purpose.
the current-gen volvo c70/v50/s40 interiors are pretty much heaven. though, i've sat in a last-gen audi tt before and though the seats weren't as supportive as volvo's, it was pretty awesome also...
maybe you should go for a drive in all your intended cars before making a decision?

that A3 has been out for a loooong time. maybe hold out for the next version of it?
- you mean when they change body style?monkeyshine
- yeah. unless you really are in love with that styling. there's probaby a new one on the way soon.iCanHasQBN

I have had my Golf GTI for 5 years now and I can safely say that AUDI are better build cars just because they use better components then VW. Fact.
Example: The windows on VW cars are held in place by plastic clips which over time snap and the window full into the door, in Audi cars there metal and they do not have this problem, and this build quality go's a lot further then just windows?
- yeah, common problem in MK4 models. Mine had the driver side window fall into the door 5 times.Josev

Audi, VW are the same company, same cheap parts, both cars suck. The worst cars I have ever owned!
- and what, you own a Ford or something?monospaced

Audi's annual service is also alot more expensive that VW, plus parts are more expensive, even though they share parts.
If you want something like the S series audi, then go for that over vw. But for a normal car, why would you pay more for what is essential quit similar

as a designer, you should buy your car based on who has the better designed logo. you know thats the right way to go ;)

C30 is sharp too! Check out the Subaru Impreza Premium Edition (under 21K) AWD was a good test drive.
- << i own an impreza wrx - sharp, wicked fast car, but its virtues lie in a different direction than what monkeyshine may be going forbigtrickagain

C30 is cool but I need 4 doors for dog hauling ease. I think I would be most in love with the aesthetic of the Audi A3 but the Volvo V50 might be more pragmatic.
I wonder why Audi stopped making the Allroads. I love those too.
- monkeyshine0
I just checked out an A3...its really small. really. small. I think I'd have as much room in a mini clubman. My dog would not appreciate.
- fuck your dog. he wouldn't care. Americans' sense of scale is WAY OFF. you're buying this car for your dog?iCanHasQBN
- i don't think it's an "american" thing when a 5'6" woman feels cramped behind the wheel.sputnik2

time to look at an a4 avant or a volvo v70?
- bigtrickagain0
if you like the allroad, have you considered...
a Subaru Outback?
http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/o…lower or same price compared to audi a3/ volvo v50, slightly larger in size, and just updated for 2010.
