Audi A3 or VW?

I'm buying a car...love the A3 but the VW is cheaper. Anyone have an A3? Is it worth the $ difference?

Just bought a volvo v50...love it!
Was considering the A3, but needed more room for the hockey gear.

the a3 is basically a mk5 golf that has been tarted up - and the a3 in its current generation has been around since 2003. the golf mk6 is a better proposition - cheaper, newer, better.

you'll just pay more for maintenance and parts on the a3 vs the golf, because you spent more money on it, even though they're almost the same thing

is this even a question? sorry but I have never known VW's to be particularly reliable. not sure what the price difference is but Audi seems to be to more reliable VW seems to of gotten better in more recent years but how much is the question. there seems to be a bigger difference between Audi and VW then say Nissan and Infinity.

A3.
best all wheel drive in the world and far more reliable than a VW. plus VW interiors fall apart quick. every level, button and handle breaks off.- er, a3 is based on vw golf mkv platform and shares major mechanicals with vw golf...bigtrickagain

I actually don't like the vw golf body nearly as much as the A3...looks like it's marketed to a 17 year old guy (I'm neither). I've heard they aren't as reliable but all my VW owning friends vehemently disagree. I'm also looking at a Volvo V50 (not as lusty but pretty nice).

i've driven a current volvo c70 (same platform as v50) and my parents own an older volvo s70. beautiful cars on the inside, and my mom's s70 at least is super-solid, even after 13 years. also, i have never sat in better seats than the volvo seats. super comfortable without being too squishy, and with just enough bracing on the sides to keep you tight in the seat around the corners. the suspensions on both cars are definitely more 'comfort' than 'sport' but that probably fulfills their intended purpose.
the current-gen volvo c70/v50/s40 interiors are pretty much heaven. though, i've sat in a last-gen audi tt before and though the seats weren't as supportive as volvo's, it was pretty awesome also...
maybe you should go for a drive in all your intended cars before making a decision?

Audi, VW are the same company, same cheap parts, both cars suck. The worst cars I have ever owned!

C30 is sharp too! Check out the Subaru Impreza Premium Edition (under 21K) AWD was a good test drive.

C30 is cool but I need 4 doors for dog hauling ease. I think I would be most in love with the aesthetic of the Audi A3 but the Volvo V50 might be more pragmatic.
I wonder why Audi stopped making the Allroads. I love those too.
