if you like the allroad, have you considered...
a Subaru Outback?
http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/o…lower or same price compared to audi a3/ volvo v50, slightly larger in size, and just updated for 2010.

The only subaru I like is the Forester...but I'm moving to Seattle so I can't get a subaru like everyone else. :)
I found a 2007 A3 with 30k miles on it. hhmm...

I have an A3 3.2 quattro. It's an awesome car, it's a vw chassis but a luxury interior that doesn't fall apart like VW's do. If I had to make the choice between VW's and Audi's again, I'd still choose the Audi, but id get the A3 tdi. Look up the milage.
Plenty of space for hockey bags, bodies, hookers, LARM mounts, soccer balls, soccer ball moms. The 6 cylinder 3.2 hauls ass. My roommate has a 4 banger turbo VW gti and I've driven it, and it has serious acceleration. But it still gets housed by my A3 on the open road.
If you do choose on VW also check out the VW Tiguan. But remember that VW's always fall apart.

thanks for the advice, guys. I'm not sure I want to buy new so I'm thinking the VW is not a safe bet.
A friend just offered to sell me his Volvo XC70 for trade in price. 48k miles. loaded. great shape.
Being indecisive doesn't help but hoping to pull the trigger this weekend. woo.

I have had my Golf GTI for 5 years now and I can safely say that AUDI are better build cars just because they use better components then VW. Fact.
Example: The windows on VW cars are held in place by plastic clips which over time snap and the window full into the door, in Audi cars there metal and they do not have this problem, and this build quality go's a lot further then just windows?
- yeah, common problem in MK4 models. Mine had the driver side window fall into the door 5 times.Josev

I just checked out an A3...its really small. really. small. I think I'd have as much room in a mini clubman. My dog would not appreciate.
- fuck your dog. he wouldn't care. Americans' sense of scale is WAY OFF. you're buying this car for your dog?********
- i don't think it's an "american" thing when a 5'6" woman feels cramped behind the wheel.sputnik2

time to look at an a4 avant or a volvo v70?
- bigtrickagain0
hmm searching on autotrader.com it looks like you can get a 2006 or newer <50,000 mile volvo v70 or audi a4 avant for ~$18k
- it makes me wary when a 2006+ car with <50k is not certified.monkeyshine
