I'm not trying to sound like an authority here but I do have some measure of experience handling dogs - my Mother was a breeder for over 20 years. She bred german shepherds (which IMO is probably the most superior breed of dog on earth) and also kenneled between 10-15 dogs at a given time. She was paying close attention to dog obedience and training tactics long before The Dog Whisperer ever showed up on the scene. He only capitalized on what many top-pedigree breeders and trainers had been saying for years. Anyway, those are my two cents. Train the master - not the dog ;)
- I have to admit, since I got my Boxer pup I have fallen in love with this breed. I am also a German Shepherd dog lover.dibec
- I'm also quite fond of boston terriers - such awesome dogs!d_rek

d_rek sounds like you are spot on. They picked her up this morning, and they trainer said pretty much all you said in your posts. Training starts immediately.
When she's ready to "graduate" they will give us a 3hr lesson in how to maintain Alpha dog status. Till then we can visit anytime we want starting after 5 days.

For all the people talking about beating dogs, +1. J/K.
I got in the habit very very early of flicking the shit out of my dogs' noses when they fuck up. It seems to "hurt"/bother them enough that they flinch when they see them fingers come together. Works for me, because I don't have to break my hand beating my dogs.
- That's my discipline and it seems to work pretty good.dMullins
