For all the people talking about beating dogs, +1. J/K.
I got in the habit very very early of flicking the shit out of my dogs' noses when they fuck up. It seems to "hurt"/bother them enough that they flinch when they see them fingers come together. Works for me, because I don't have to break my hand beating my dogs.
