Funny thing about Nolan Ryan... He's not even considered in the top 25 pitchers of all time. http://www.hardballtimes.com/mai…
Got to see him pitch against Roger Clemens once when I was a kid. What a game.

i have cards dating back to 78. i've got most rookie cards for all the greats who came into the league up until about 1992. i have a bunch of nolan ryan rookies that my neighbor gave me when i was a kid. my neighbor was ryan's teammate and friend when he played for the angels. cards today are a joke, there's far too many of them and the ones that are pegged as "the jersey from so-and-sos no-hitter" are a complete lie. there's a plaque for a guys no hitter that included dirt and a jersey patch "from the mound and actual jersey worn during the game" yet the player has the whole jersey hanging in the basement of his house, framed with no holes from the patches. it's a lie.
- not true... and i've never heard of this "the jersey from so-and-sos no-hitter"pavlov
- absolutely true. i'll take a photo of the guys jersey that is said to be cut up on the plaque the next time i'm at his house. :)kona
- topps and bowman are reputable brands... they would get in some serious shit if they misled their buyers.pavlov

drink the kool-aid pavlov, i have every card topps made from 1989 to 1995 in those season boxes. i never cared to look through them. i think they're in my dads attic. maybe.
you really want to collect cards? i have this whole set too...
mint condition full set worth about $20 the history is priceless!

I bet the Dallas Braden card from this season will have some worth to it after he pitched his perfect game.
I have a set from like 86? Not a full set, but close. I know I have a Terry Francona (Boston Manager) player card. He was still an ugly loser back then, too. haha

I have a set of bootleg baseball cards that were made in the 1970s. They're kind of weird. There's about 40 in the set. I think they were made by an orthodontist in his spare time.

we used to play in my parents basement by scaling the cards acrss the room like chinese stars and the game was to have the card lean on the wall.. if you could land on the wall as a leaner, your oppenent had 1 shot to knock out your card from the wall and have their card as the leaner, if you could do that you had a choice of any card in your oppenents deck at the time of the game on hand..
was one of my best childhood memories of baseball cards..
only scaling the crappy cards.. though.. no rookies or draft picks allowed..:)

I don't think I've watched a baseball game on TV in over 20 years.
