Not the person, the country.
I have an invitation to interview at Kunsthogskolen i Bergen for a Masters in industrial design.
I am looking for ideas on how much it costs to live there, food, shelter, art supplies??
Also about Norweigan loan programs for outsiders (me!)
Anything really!
I am not yet accepted but I am excited and kind of need to start planning just in case.

"was rated the second most expensive country in which to live in a 2006 Quality of Life Index"My coworker all said quality of life is "awesome"... "they don't know how good they have it".
Although gas, tabacco, alcohol... anything considered a luxery is really expensive.

Norway is a mystery.
Some say it is unNorwable.
- Sorry. I'm drunk and thought this was funny. It's clearly not. If I could, I'd retract, but I cant. Again, I apologise.detritus

Lucky for me I do not drink or smoke - nor do I plan on having a car.
I am just wondering if I can get a part time job somewhere that pays enough to give me ample amounts of decent food and hopefully travel a little bit while I am there, granted I make it!
- you must be awesome fun. as long as someone drives over to pick you up...airey

Norway is great, but very expensive - for students especially.
This should give you an idea about how much it will cost you to rent a place:

Lånekassen is the Norwegian loan program for students - and you may be eligible for financial support depending on where you´re from. You should count on using a minimum of $500 in food per month, a decent apartment would set you back $1000-1500 (depending on your standards..).
Just email me if there´s something you need help with!

10 bucks for a beer in a bar. It's snowing today, in the spring month of May. I love my country. Welcome!

cost of living in norway >> http://www.uio.no/english/studen…

I've lived here 6 years, my Norwegian is still rubbish and I have no trouble getting things done. I'm not an expert on the tax system, as I usually let these things sort themselves out, but I've never heard of a 60%+ tax bracket. As far as I know the highest tax bracket is 50%. Sales tax is 25%, there are other duties etc, thrown in on cars, alcohol, tabaco etc. You'll be paying Kr60+ for a pint in Oslo and I assume Bergen. Marlbro 20s are Kr83 at the supermarket. You'll easily get a part time job in a shop earning 135 or 145 an hour.

Blyant - are you saying it is easy to get part time retail work at 20 an hour? AMAZING.
My friend who was in Norway for a bit told me I could rent a room in a house or apt for around 600 a month - does that sound accurate?
I live a humble life. I plan on studying a lot and traveling, but I eat and live very very cheap. I currently live in Portland OR.
Free language lessons - great tip - thank you!!

Okay my friend who was there for a few years said I could rent a room for 600 a month and food would be 30-50% more in grocery stores.
DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT?
