Anybody have links to good articles or writings about the design process, and how to explain it to potential clients?
Or good advice of your own you'd be willing to share?

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Just B.S. it all. That's what most people do anyway. It's not like your clients understand what the hell you're talking about.

Step 1: Land the client
Step 2: Define Scope Requirements and agree upon project goals
Step 3: Do job to specifically meet scope requirements and goals
Step 4: Review
Step 5: Go through six million changes completely blowing the agreed upon scope and defined goals out of the water until you are cross eyed and blind, have no will to keep going and Cobain yourself while sitting alone contemplating your wasted life.- step 5 - LOLd_rek
- Sigh. So true.Continuity
- "Cobain yourself" lolboobs
- dont forget that the concept, or any concept, will no longer be noticeable at step 5Josev

This doc has been helpful as more of a business approach to selling design for me. It kinda takes some of the subjective out of the creative process.

Fuck process; get on with the work...

ˆ Nice doc d_rek. Aiga does have some very useful stuff. You of course have to tailor it to your own needs but it is a great start.

Clients need to step, n shit.
You don't nitpick every tiny detail and have to justify anything if you're a surgeon or an attorney - they've got clients trained such that they pay the money, stfu and are happy with the result that you promised them in step 1 - the only step, which is 1) I decide what you need, because I am the paid expert, and you pay $xyz.
Done.

Without good workflow and process the work will take longer, you won't get sign off and ultimately you'll be fucked! and won;t get paid.
So a little attention to following a process however grand or small helps.

I don't mean "design process" in terms of a step-by-step workflow, like "these are the steps we use to put together a printed brochure." I mean more of the design process like, "here is what we do for you, the client, and here is what we go through to develop solutions."

changes every time, doesn't it?
gets a little better, gets a little better, completely fails, so-so, gets a little better...
