If it should have ended it would have ended.
I think Macs are no longer a must have, they're just one of many options - they have competition now. I suppose it is just preference. I think in this case my pref is to save £600 and move away from 15 years with Apple, because over the past year they've been a bunch of wasters with me.- ah yes, cos everything in the world that should happen does and everything that shouldn't doesn't.********

well the screen quality is less on the Sony so that is going to be some of the price difference. ex. they are the same resolution but the Mac has 1440 by 900 in 15 inches and the sony has the same resolution in 16inches...less pixels per inch. also the mac screen is led back lit is the sony the same? just some things to consider. also check the speed of the Hard drives are they the same? The mac also offers a Solid state HD...worth the extra money if you are going to be moving the laptop alot and don't want the run the chance of a HD getting corrupted because you were careless of where you left your laptop.
Another example... You convince your clients to have you design their business cards instead of going to kinkos, because it will be a better looking product. Good design cost more, same principle applies to the mac.
- LED vs LCD is a good argument if it's valid. The LED helps the battery life and looks better.monospaced

and another point, if you've been on macs for a while, fonts could be an issue too. i recently switched to macs and have found I need to convert many, many fonts. and sometimes designs shift a bit.

I bought a PC laptop recently thinking, "I need a real PC to test sites on" and within two months I have already gotten rid of it. I just could not work in that environment. That's my personal preference though. I'll never buy another PC in my life I don't think...
- well of course not it takes longer than that to learn something newProjectile

Sony F series only has up to 3hrs battery life...full brightness or up to one hour DVD playback vs the 9 hrs on the mac...just saying, there is a reason there is a 700 gap in price.
this the one you are talking about?
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-VPC-F…only has a 500 GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 RPM)
NVIDIA GeForce 310M with 512 MB- Is that worth £700? Not often without power though, the mac battery will be dead after 3 years.Atkinson

ps. please tell us which one you decide on. i'm dying to know. thx.
- Atkinson0
No, it's a custom F series, higher spec and a lot cheaper!
Aye, I'm indecisive.

Looked at Vaios today, nice. Then looked at the new 17" MBP. Nicer and brighter. Damn Apple, I hate them.
