Anyone else having their Youtube player blackout/go blank while playing videos lately? This started happening to me yesterday.

i don't know if i just discovered it and it's been there for ages but i like the "add to queue" function.
- I hate it, you think that you are click play movie and then a small video player loads on the bottom of your screen, then you have to close it.utopian

Recommended list breakdown:
25% videos I've already watched, some just days ago and others years ago.
25% videos in my playlists, which I will get to in my own time, thanks.
25% videos I've scrolled by a dozen or more times, have no intention of watching, but resent having to manually ignore to clear from the list.
25% videos related to videos I've already watched... and Indian movie trailers I'll never watch because I don't speak Tamil or Hindi.

It's worse now.
I noticed last week the app and browser versions weren't tracking what has been watched in the other platform – the app won't mark videos watched in browser as watched, and vice versa.
Then this week they changed the UI and obviously some other things backstage, and now 6 of the top 8 video recommends are ones I've already watched, and watched *within the last few days*. But there's no red bar across the thumbnails showing I've watched them, regardless of which platform I check.
How does Google manage to fuck up something like this?

Adding section/chapter breaks to the playback timeline is a great idea. Handy for skipping baked-in sponsor crud.

I haven't seen an ad on Youtube for years.
Just use uBlock Origin, it's the best, blocks ads all over the web including youtube. It tells me it's blocked 1.879M ads since I installed it a few years ago
I also use Privacy Badger- I thought some people here make a living from producing ads.SimonFFM

I turn Youtube ads on and off. I like ads which play for several minutes if you don't skip them. I watch them to the end because I'm pretty sure no one else does.
It's like deep web. I once watched a 15 min long ad about immigrants who made ice cream sandwiches.
The longer, the more absurd and funnier it gets.- I watch them also sometimes. except the guy that wants to convince me that his coaching courses will buy me a lambo.uan

- Worth it for the Logan Paul movies.PhanLo
- If you watch 5 videos per day, that's about 7 skip ads of 5s =35s per day = almost 2 hours of your life saved for $780.shapesalad
- I'll pay with my datamilfhunter
- hah, it only has 2 million subs at $44.99 (and most of them joined last year before the hike from $34.99). they're maybe trying to kill it??kingsteven
- Only poor people find this expensive.i_was
- It’s just cable. Nobody needs this shitmonospaced
- It's pretty ridiculous. I'd pay $5/month to skip ads, but there is no content on YouTube (that I know of) that is premium that I care about.formed
- Dumb move when everything else is $5-10/month.formed
- is this just regular tv shows? who the fuck wants to see that shit?GuyFawkes
- maybe their target is boomers.GuyFawkes
- This is literally live cable tv. Commercials and all. Its not YouTube premium. It’s not ad free. It’s just channels of crap cable tv.monospaced
- Cut the cable and then buy the same shit from google. Totally pointless.monospaced
- Imagine paying for a service and still seeing ads.noRGB
- We have YoutubeTV because it was $35 when we started. Considering killing it this year.noRGB
- Mostly bought it for NBA games, but with Amazon taking over that contract soon, no need for it anymore.noRGB
- Apple tv is only 5 bucks a monthutopian
- Apple TV is barely worth that $5.monospaced
- I cut the cable about 15 years ago. If you can't figure out an adblocker or find 4k streams for games, I guess you're stupid enough to buy cable from Youtube.garbage
- YouTube TV isn't just YouTube without ads, or game streams. It's cable television.monospaced
- Yup...cable TV without internet, but needs the internet to work...catch 22.utopian
- I turned on Hulu Live TV for the World Cup, watched about 1hr max. There's nothing else of value for me except live news, and that's mostly shite too. $75/mo :/5timuli
- Cheaper than cable for us. HBO etcnuggler
- but who needs cable at all? I honestly don’t get it.monospaced
- Skip all Youtube ads with ad blockers.utopian

Anyone else having playback problems with youtube? Videos sporadically stop and then start playing again.
