nice, but yeah, i don't think they capture the essense of his films.
these movie/tv poster remakes are getting a little stale - seems there is a new batch every week...
It seems a lot like designing a dvd cover for a Wes Anderson movie would be really easy because you've already got so much aesthetic bliss in the movies that boxset buyers will gobble up any mildly interesting color scheme cause that's what their into.
It's automatic coolness in theory except it's never actually a job it's just an overused portfolio stuffer.
I'm so used to seeing him use Futura, it's hard to not expect it.
They're very nice...just not very Wes..who I actually met in Soho and had a picture with like a giddy child...nice guy
the well of imagination has dried up
creating a print campaign for a film is so much more involved than just making a pretty picture
anyone else find the kerning on that slab "Royal" and "aquatic" very irritable?
ALL of these posters are half if not one quarter of a good idea
it's just someone fucking about with, you know, design. jesus christ what a bunch of near-do-well creative directors for nobody we have here.
here's an idea, let's use this thread to actually all do our own posters. then we can cross-critique and maybe create some cool shit.
maybe then we can all do some design and not simply art direct a thread. ya fuckers.
- is it just me or did the original post not ask for our "thoughts"... ?inkpink
- no, your right but you get them free of charge here.airey
- you know that going in, or at least should do.airey
- LOL at "art direct a thread". Perfect summation of QBN ad nauseam.duckofrubber
I would definetely work with Wes Anderson
at first take i was like what does a banana have to do with bottle rocket. it took me a while, but there's a really obscure line about the dignan looking like a banana in his jumpsuit. now i like the poster even more. bottle rocket, best wes anderson film of them all.
I don't need to post something lengthy because airey pretty much did it for me.
These aren't official posters. They're like fan art.
as design pieces they are quite beautiful, as methods used to communicate and represent the respective movies, some of them work some of them miss the mark completely.
