- if that's how you lock your bike you'll lose it again... put the chain thru the frame not round the fork!!!hans_glib

The best strategy for securing a bicycle is rather than one heavy thick lock, use 4 or so small, average locks. Small D locks:
http://www.hands-net.jp/goods/26…loop them around parts of the bicycle that would mean needing to remove them all to ride the thing. and make sure you have at least around the item you locking your bike too.
if you're stealing a bicycle you don't want to be there cutting the lock for too long if it's locked in a visible location. that is also key: visible location.
so you're already put off the chancers by making them have to cut through 4+ locks.
Failing that, move to Japan. The only people who steal bicycles are: drunks if they have missed the last train home, and they will likely ride back the next day to return the bicycle, and you'd have to leave it unlocked to start with; or the police themselves will take your bicycle - for illegally parking it. In which case pay a fine to get it back.
but they won't remove a bicycle locked to something. Most people in Tokyo don't lock their bicycle to anything. You'll see $1000+ bicycles locked to nothing, just a trendy small D lock through the back wheel.
The Japanese are the most advanced culturally in terms of frigging getting on with life, respecting each others stuff and having a pleasant time.

even worse day, got jumped by two dudes walking my bike home from the pub one night, finally got rid of them by throwing my bike at them overhead (it was an aluminum bike)...then I chased them around the corner out of adrenaline and drunkeness, turned around and went back and somebody stole my bike.

almost an awesome result .. thieves had the last laugh.
i rkn you need to retrace your movements .. chances are the same thieves will try it again, but next time have backup and woop their asses

That shit sucks, I had a bike stolen twice. Found it, stole it back. About a month later it got stolen again.
I'm waiting to see some cunt riding it one day and I can fly kick him off and reclaim what is rightfully mine.
I built it from the ground up so I'll know it's mine.
- make sure you video that kick..hans_glib
- videoing and fly kicking at the same time may prove difficult, although I shall do my best.********
