while you're around the central north island, make sure you do some black-water caving. fucking awesome.

also, ask advice on times to drive places as the major highways are still only one lane either way in places with some major traffic issues.
when we were there last we drove past a dead motorcyclist just before they shut the highway down and cars behind us were stuck fir 3 hours. it effectively shut down all traffic from rotorua to auckland.
it's not always bad traffic but when you look on a map you kind of feel that the distance is tiny (especially after living in australia for 15 years) and think that the drive will be a lot less than it actually is.
if possibly while around rotorua, take a look at the blue and green lakes (great areas) but ignore the maori buried village - absolute tourist rip-job (unsurprisingly - almost made me laugh at how we'd been ripped and i used to spend holidays with family in rotorua so shold have known better).
you'll have a fucking awesome time!
- pls ignore my atrocious engrish. i can barely make sense of it ffs.airey

Wellington is awesome, it's the home of Flight of the Conchords and the seat of much of NZ’s movie industry (Peter Jackson and Weta Digital).
Lots of good web companies are based here — SilverStripe and Resn are two that might sound familiar to you guys overseas.
Naturally I’m slightly biased being a Wellingtonian of 5 years now.
- If you want sunshine, golden sand beaches and good fishing go up to Northland at the top of the country.thatboyneave

If you're driving South through Taupo (which you probably will be), try staying at my mum's bed & breakfast for a night:

It's an incredibly beautiful spot...

As long as you don't become one of these so called "freedom campers" that have been causing some fuss lately you should be alright.
Make sure you get down to Invercargill. The place Mick Jagger famously referred to as "The arsehole of the world!"

So much to see and do, you'll have a blast!

I wonder how long it will take for some arsehole to post a negative message about NZ on here! Its only a matter of time before some angry bastard has a go at you for going to NZ!
Christchruch is brilliant, defo go there. ( or maybe someone will have a go at me now for recommending Christchurch!)
- You sound very negativejamble
