ok, here are 3 shots from yesterday's freelensing session, with an olde Fujifilm S3pro SLR and ancient NIKKOR F 50mm 1:1.4 (detached, ofcourse!)
turned out it's like a View Camera ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vieā¦ ) without a bellow. I could do extreme close ups with a regular 50mm.
Sad thing is i may have got one or two spots of dirt, but it was well worth it. it needs cleaning anyway.
- btw: 2nd is a gold/cotton decorated ball in the xmas tree & 3rd is a tiny angel figure in same tree.janne76

medium format lens held in front of a dSLR. The idea is that the MF lens sprays a larger image over the sensor because the lens is designed for medium format film, which is much larger than a normal dSLR sensor (or 35mm slide film). This allows wilder movements of the lens while still keeping slop broadcast over the
sensor.here is a rough idea of what i mean:
the medium format lens over the sensor on the left and a full frame lens just barely covering the sensor on the right.

some Old polaroid camera lenses and/or old Wollensack/Schnieder lenses from 1950's 4x5 speed graphics can do nice, lots of covering power as above diagram.......as can old 80mm or larger darkroom enlarger lenses, or anything from a 4x5 view camera...Some surplus shops sell old heavy big lenses from xerox machines....very cool.... I've also seen art school people use toilet rubber gaskets to stop the dust/light leeks...
