My wife recently won tickets for a Skunk Anansie concert two weeks ago in Hanover. She wanted to take an old friend of hers, they were going to a lot of their concerts in the 90ies. She couldn't make it so I was second in line and happily joined my wife. The show was in front of only 250 people in a small concert hall with great acoustics. It was perfect, Skins unique voice, her presence on stage and the stories they told between the songs made it such an inspiring and enjoyable evening, it still resonates with me. Listening to how their songs came together really made you feel as if they are just sitting at your kitchen table late at night chatting about the old times, like you had known them for a long time ... which is parasocial but also kind of true, thinking of the time when I started going to Punk clubs in the 90ies and first heard their songs, dealing with the ups and downs of growing up ourselves – that's maybe why their songs felt so relatable and true all along.
You can listen to the concert here – I think it's not geoblocked but you have to get past the trashy german radio station intro:
- Thanks for posting, they're one of my favorites as well********

NIN | Co-op Arena | Manchester
I've seen them five or six times over the past few decades and this one was noteworthy. Beautifully curated and orchestrated with a Berghain techno undercurrent throughout. The distressed video visuals coupled with simple red and white lighting were stunning. Absolutely fucking terrific.
- Nice, seeing them soon too this summer.NBQ00
- That looks fantastic. I've seen them twice. Once opening for Jane's Addiction.CyBrainX
- Niice!! Seeing him and Muse on the same day soonProjectile
- I saw them with Jane’s Addiction too, but NIN was headlining. Probably 2010. I also saw them with David Bowie and that was epic.monospaced
- I saw them then too. I think you might be right about the order. It was at Jones Beach and they let me in with my Canon SLR which was great.CyBrainX
- I wish I saw them with Bowie. Outside is my favorite of his albums and Downward Spiral is my favorite NIN, both released around that time.CyBrainX
- wow!maquito
- they were on my list but I never saw emcherub
- Yeah I was at a Jones Beach show too :)monospaced

I got the kids hooked on Naruto... and Toshio Masuda has dropped some legit bangers while doing the composing for the show.

Deafheaven - Pumpehuset, Copenhagen
They named a venue after your mum lol
This fucking band, god-fucking-damn. I've seen them a bunch of times and they only get better but on Thursday night I reached a moment of diamond-like clarity and understanding - like when you're in a Berlin hotel room making a hella rough porno and the pills suddenly kick in and all you want to do, nej, MUST do at that very precise moment, is immediately leave and buy a Gibson SG copy and start making grindcore with the Japanese guy you met at a record store the other day while looking through the aristocratic suicidal death metal albums - yeah, like that.
They started the show with tracks from Lonely People... which just sound utterly brutal and immense live - they have a new guy on guitar for this tour and he absolutely fucking rips. Then about a third of the way in they played Brought To The Water and the planets aligned and I almost began to weep - the music, the band, the performance melted into one glorious sensorial assault. They became the perfect band playing the perfect song at the perfect time. Going from one of my favourite bands of recent times to *the* fucking band.
Then they played Sunbather and the rest of the evening vanished.
Ꝏ / 10 - would Cody again.

They were indeed amazing. This is from Berlin, full show.
- How was the visuals live. I guess the last time I saw them was 11 years ago, The stage show was amazing then. Do I dare say better than this tour?fooler

Saw Snail Mail last night. She's a cute little 25 year old lesbian emo artist but had John Brannon, a 63 year old punk legend (Negative Approach and Laughing Hyenas) open. They were both great just a strange combo.
They were both touring with Dinosaur Jr but they had to cancel and moved to a much smaller venue.

I wasn't too far behind this person. Not too bad for $60 and a 10 minute commute on the bike.
