I have a iPhone love it - partner has a Droid because he don't give up his verizon service which is better than at&t sometimes.
Depends on what you want it for - how much you want to pay for service - if your set on certain apps that only come on iphone - etc
I went with iphone because of its ease of syncing with my mac with droid you have to use gmail to sync your calendar and everything.

The word "droid" is licensed to Lucasfilm LTD, which means Motorola pays a fee to George Lucas to use his trademarked term.

I still have the first Iphone , never saw a need for the 3g or 3gs mainly because of the OS updates and apps that fill in the voids
wifey has the blackberry storm and she at first hated the thing but now she can't put it down
in the end it comes down to what you want out of the gadget cause they all make calls

the nexus one preview is rather dissapointing, looks the same as the other android devices.
the interface looks identical, and is equally less seamless compared to an iphone as the other android phones already out :/
iphone in pole position!

I am an iPhone user and my next phone will be a newer generation of iPhone...
but
...using it in a country where cold snowy winters are to be expected is a joke. There's no picking up or hanging up a call in gloves, haha.

id like to thank you all for the advice! its much appreciated.
Tough choice...pros and cons rundown time!!
CONS -
i dont really like apple all that much,
i think johnathan ive is a pretentious tosser, but sometimes makes valid points.
i find their operating system is not all that nice (i realise saying this on a design forum may be a bad move), im not starting a debate - chosen OS is preference!!!
i think steve jobs' arrogance knows no bounds.
i think the lack of flash on the iphone is terrible and cheap.
And there is also this pretentious attitude with some apple users - NOT ALL - some of my best friends are massive apple geeks.
(i understand some of the above cons are not directly relevant to the iphone device itself, but i feel the company/its people does influence my opinion of the device)PROS
The iphone performance is very nice and very smooth.
The design of the device is great, very clear, very apple.i am torn!!!
anyone jailbreak their iphone?
long post :/ sry.- I've seen iPhones running on T-Mobile, but some apps didn't work right...vaxorcist
- iPhone works on AT&T or T-Mobile, not Verizon or Sprint... T-Mobile =?> AT&T?!?vaxorcist
- Mine is jailbroken on T-Mobile. All apps have worked flawlessly, and nearly every complaint can be fixed with jailbroken apps (besides flash).DoTheMacarena
- besides Flash support. You can also customize the skin to look like windows, however a puppy dies of leukemia every time you do this.DoTheMacarena
- do this.DoTheMacarena
- Is T-Mobile much better than AT&T? Verizon seems to actually work almost everywhere....vaxorcist
- Depends where you are, obviously. I'm in S. California, so coverage is pretty good with every carrier. I would have to say itDoTheMacarena
- say it's definitely between ATT (bad) and Verizon (good). I drop hardly any calls compared to ATT, but I don't get coverage like myDoTheMacarena
- in remote areas like my GF does on Verizon.DoTheMacarena

my GF has an iphone, but AT&T doesn't work inside the building where we live most of the time.... so, who cares if the network sux...
I have a Moto Q running on Verizon/PagePlus, less fancy but it always, always works...... pageplus uses verizon network for $29 / month no contract.... and it works fine so far....

since at&t sucks, and i'm on verizon, i bought a droid with the intent of getting an iphone when apple makes a contract with verizon. from what i hear, it'll be q4 2010 at the earliest, but by then i'll have saved enough money on phone bills to get the best iphone on the market. plus the droid has all of the essential apps i need, though lacks the decadent ones (i.e. the iphone app that tickles you (itickle), or the one that turns it into a taser (itaze)).
the camera is really nice, and the interface is also quite slick.

I just made the switch from an AT&T iPhone to a Sprint HTC Hero.
I couldn't be happier. There are of course some habits that I was used to that I have to break now that some UI actions are different, but the phone itself lives up to the hype.
I blame my dissatisfaction with my previous set up like 65% AT&T and 35% Apple. The phone was constantly dropping calls. That was first and foremost and considering you spend $40+ more to have that phone a month, it's beat. Then the issues of not being able to run simultaneous apps, and most importantly the lack of flash bugged me to no end. Plenty of other gripes, but that is the bulk of it.
The Hero so far is very smooth in transitions. Every app I loved on the iPhone (that were functional, not just "awe, look it's pretty") I have found or found a similar product on the Android Market. I have access to live TV, satellite radio, navigation, and a lot of augmented reality apps. Layer is sweet for that.
And I'm only paying $69.99 a month. That also includes unlimited mobile to mobile calling, texts, data, and email.
HTC Hero and the other Sprint Android phone will be updating straight to 2.1 come end of January, thus exceeding the Droid OS.

Yeah I tried swipe. it's interesting. And I like its T9 style input better than anything else, it's fastest / easiest.
The Droid still needs a very good, plain ol' T9 style app though. There's a few apps that are good, but they lack some basic T9 features and dictionary words.
- I should say I like T9 better than anything, but not necessarily Swipe's method.evanburke

swype on the droid is awesome for text input. i think it'll be available for all the android handsets soon. so much better for touch screen text entry compared to anything else i've tried.
