If you don't like this movie, I feel sorry for you. I am a jaded and critical movie-goer -- especially of something with this much hype and special effects, but can't find a negative thing to say about this movie. Blew my mind!

shit script, terrible plot, hackneyed storyline with a 'subtext' that hits you over the head with a hammer. honestly truly truly awful dialogue, I laughed often.
I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Its fucking amazing. seriously

the 3D version was sold out so we had to go to the "living room theater" section of the megaplex, which was cool 'cause it's 21 and over and you can drink beer.
I thought it was just OK. Typical hollywood script but was very cartoonish. Thought I was watching a He-Man cartoon at one point.
I wonder if i saw the 3D version if i would have been more impressed.
Oh the best part was all the aliens boobs!

It's a pretty good film. Nothing really ground breaking compared to the other 'epic' movies out there. Soaked in CGI and some cheesiness here and there but well worth seeing.

3D Imax is the only way to see it... so i probably wont be buying it on dvd lol

my right wing inlaws are boycotting this film because the heard it was anti american/anti marines.
- What's so liberal about anti-imperialism? Sounds like they need to be schooled on the bedrock values of paleo-conservatismwaterhouse

- I had a laugh about how many people may not like it for that reason alone.juhls

BTW, they movie never mentions "America" or the "U.S." by name and I suspect that's quite intentional.
If the movie indeed has a cautionary message, it probably has more to do with corporate militias like Blackwater who answer to paying clients, as opposed to federal armies who execute the orders of a government.

if: inlaws = inbreds
then: outlaws = outbreds?

It's obvious who it's about. But taking it too seriously is a joke. The "bad guys" were cartoonish, as some others have said.
Note: I totally didn't mind what happened to them by the end.

I think that's another common misconception: that Avatar's some bleeding-heart environmentalist plea. Not my read on the film at all.
I think the dramatized destruction of trees was merely a metaphor.

Let's face it, there is no meaning, Cameron was high (on coke heroin and shrooms) the whole time, with the world's most expensive CG team at his disposal.
