"surely the most vivid and persuasive creation of a fantasy world ever seen in the history of moving pictures"
why do reviewers keep saying crap like this? Are they being payed to say this? Come on.
- well you the one that seems a little obsessed reaing every review out thereCALLES
- who asked brendan?™version3
- and this statement seems fairly accurate. The story was ok...but the realization of the fantasy world WAS incredible.marychain
- yeah and the entire world was 3d......thats a shit ton of work, especially for jungle scenes.instrmntl

Humans have advanced technology but they have advanced connections to there home world and all the creatures

I saw it on Saturday and really enjoyed it.
Gotta say, the oddest thing in the movie is Giovanni Ribissi's character wearing a damn necktie. It's 2154 for Christ's sake - no style updates at all?
- the necktie will always be in stylescarabin
- YEAH! and they wore shoes too. WTF!dopepope
- was that hair on their heads? i mean seriously...version3
- 150 years from now: neckties and shoes. no, neckties will be ceremonial if anything. shoes will be made of mechanical organs or somethinga_iver
- it's the future dang it!a_iver
- *mechanical organs or somethinga_iver

If you go see this at a regular theater (not imax) that is showing it in 3d, can you wear the 3d glasses over regular glasses?

I thought it was a really fun film and I wasn't expecting to think it was all that great. Is the plot line simplistic? yes. Is the dialog not particularly great? yes. but it really works in the theater regardless and I am not usually into big-budget box office hits or CGI characters. That being said, I saw it in digital 3D and I had nausea / motion sickness or something after a while...

I was a real skeptic before, but now that I've seen it, I've totally changed my mind .. Really blew my mind.. the visuals are stunning, never seen anything like it. The story could have been more exciting but the moral (if there was meant to be one) is a good one. Excellent movie, would definitely recommend it.

Jim Cameron has raised the bar that dudes like Jerry Bruckheimer and company have been pillaging for years now; over produced films with the depth of a puddle.
Good on Cameron for investing time (15 years from it's inception) and he's seeing return in spades; both from critics and the viewing public.
A true experience for all ages (although "bitch" was dropped various times by the token hard assed chick).

Just saw it. This movie was really amazing. The 3D was fantastic, loved everything.

I thought i was going to hate it based on the trailer, but it was actually bad ass

Plot - pretty good, but it reminded me of so many other scripts in certain places
Casting - okayish, cos the lead male actor can't do a good American accent to save his life, and he just doesn't have that 'lead' charisma a film this big dignifies. The lead female alien character was fantastic.
Visuals - my jaw was on the floor within the first 2 minutes. The world Cameron created is so amazingly beautiful.
3D goggles - nowhere near as goofy-looking as I was expecting :)
Name of the special mineral - unobtainium? seriously?
- they're only 6 possible scrips for movies, books, ect. So yes you have seen it before.FredMcWoozy
